Scifi and Fantasy Forum: Movies: Blair Witch Project
Blair Witch ProjectWe have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
I decided to see the second most hyped movie of the year. What a disappointment. The idea was original, and I liked the documentary approach, but I didn't find it scary at all (what's scary about a black screen and the sound of footsteps?). The worst part is there was absolutely no delivery. The dang thing just ends! I was sitting there thinking "that's it?". Not impressed.
Hey there
It ~was~ an excellent idea. The follow-through was weak, however; as a friend of mine pointed out, for example, adding all the b & w footage together, that was going to be a documentary for a senior project in film school? It was short, weak in material and coherence, and poorly done. Perhaps a nit-pick, but it's supposed to be a "real" story, done by "real" film students. In my opinion, it actually would have made an incredible radio drama--except for the last scene, which was the spookiest in the film... For those of you who may not have put it together (I needed help, myself), I think the house was supposed to be the one mentioned by that guy at the beginning, in which the children were taken in two at a time, brought to the basement, and killed, one at a time, while the 2nd kid was facing the corner (thus the last shot).
I totally hated it!!!
it was awful. I wish i could make millions of dollars by taking a camera into the woods and running around and screaming like and idiot, and hanging little things in trees.
I'm posting on a thread that should have ended in 1999, where it belongs. What's wrong with me? I liked the idea of this movie. It obviously could have been better, but I liked it more than I hated it. Coincidentally, if you count every occurence of [Form of unallowed word removed. Bmat] or a derivitive thereof, get a nickle for each one, I think you make as much money as they did on the movie. Not bad. I seemed to have been more chilled and impressed with the subtle sound effect of the "child" outside the tent than most people I know. The sequel should have been the same kind of low budget deal with more thought behind it, but instead they made a mediocre hollywood style flick. I'm going back to the real world now, and I may not ever post on a thread this old ever again, or stay up this late. I'm starting to see things. What was that!?
