Posted By: Ixion May 22, 2003 - 01:26 am | | Not sure if this had been brought up before, but ... Has anyone else noticed the similarities between these 3 films? Beginning with Dark City: The entire city was fabricated by the machines from below. The residents are controlled by other beings through manipulation of the mind and thoughts. One man was given the same power as the beings to destroy the machine and/or recreate the world to his liking. Next, the Matrix: The entire world known to us is fake (the matrix). The residents of the matrix are controlled by the machines, feeding our minds to keep the body alive. One man learns that he can move like his enemies and has the power to re-write the matrix how he sees fit. Finally, the Thirteenth Floor: The entire world is a virtual reality simulation. The residents of the simulation invent a sim-world of their own. Inside the innermost program, one occupant discovers his world is not real and exits it. Thinking he has escaped the program, he gloats only to learn that this world is also artificial. For those of you who have seen the Matrix Reloaded, the biggest questions are ... S P O I L E R S P A C E How did Neo have the power to stop the sentinels OUTSIDE of the matrix? Is the real world just another matrix WITHIN a matrix? What of Smith's replication that escaped the matrix? Does Neo have a part of Smith inside him, just as Smith has a part of Neo inside him? Does the anomaly in Neo's head have anything to do with control over the machines? And why can't I order a beautiful woman dessert like that? These questions will undoubtedly be answered in 6 months. Well, except for the last one.

Posted By: predprey Jan 02, 2004 - 07:14 am | | never seen 13th floor, but i was sorry to find out just how much of a rip off the Matrix was from Dark City. I heard about it and when I saw Dark City at one point I was laughing at how similar matrix was sometimes scene by scene. Sometimes it seems more like a remake than a film with some similarities...
