I wouldn't have a clue! I haven't seen it yet, and don't intend to.

I can't believe you have not seen Blade Runner. Worse, you don't intend to? Big mistake.

Blade Runner is both film noir and Sci-Fi. That's what makes it so great. I think it was one of the only times I saw a future in a movie that seemed likely to happen.

On another note: Anyone else surprized that Han Solo is the one that ended up with the best career?

Well, I'll have to think about it then, seeing as it's so wonderful, won't I?

It looks ok, but obviously the ads don't do it much credit.

It has been a while since i saw the movie.
Yet it seems like yesterday.
However i do not recall why the androids went berserk. What were there motives again?
I know it had something to do with a mining colony.

P.S. I know the ads dont do it much credit, but you have to admit the credits add up!

I didn't like Blade Runner. Personally, I don't know why everyone thinks it's so great. Usually I love Sci-Fi films, but this did nothing for me. Maybe it was because of the film noir aspect, or maybe I just didn't understand it.

Without giving anything away, I didn't like the ending at all. I was just too weird. The whole movie is weird. But don't let me put you off seeing it. It's just one of those movies you have to see and make up your own mind.

Blade Runner has always been one of my favorites because it can't be easily cartegorized. I was very surprised that it wasn't mentioned among Harrison Ford's accomplishments at the Golden Globes. The Director's cut version is even better, so I recommed checking out that version if you rent the dvd. It's one of my favorite dvd's along with the Mad Max 20th anniversary dvd that just came out. Mad Max is another one of those hard to categorize movies that has appeal on multiple levels.

Blade runner, it has to be THE BEST SCIFI FILM OF ALL TIME, period.
Cant belive that guy hasnt seen it and doesnt intend to.
Vangellis theme tracks to the film, music, is awsome to I have the cd and play it often, it always rocks me to sleep realy nicely :)
As for the film, it has some of the best one liners, two liners and, movie magic moments in scifi history.
It is without question, a must for any scifi fan.
Regards:::::
Hyperion.
PS::Directors cut version is good worth hunting out, I was supprised when I found it.

Reason why it wasnt mentioned at the golden globes, for harrisons acomplishments, is because he hated making the film and is not very proud of it.
He had arguments with numerous actors and producers, directors during the making of the film.

Hyperion
PS::Still Rutger stole the show anyways as he always does in any movie he makes, guys an underated genius.

Science fiction noir is definately the crossover for Blade Runner, it has the characteristics of Ridley Scott's dark style science fiction film making that he's well known for right from Alien. As well as sharing all the characteristics of a noir plot. There is the disillusioned detective in the form of Harrison's Deckard, the Femme Fatale, in Rachael as well as the most obvious trait the film shares, the detective voiceover. Its dark and gritty, a reflection of course on the original 1930's noir films and it shows a city in the same filmic manner the original noirs did. It is just slightly updated for a futuristic theme, yet all the signs are there that it is a play on the noir, Deckard wears a long trench coat, which was used in a lot of the older films. He visits seedy bars, interviews the same kind of people... the list is endless. Part of what is known as the crossover genres, and even the ending of the original version; the old riding off into the sunset scenario, is played out. A good film all in all.

Blade Runner - a classic sci-fi movie, and a great book too (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) and it was one of Harrison Ford's best performance, yet it's different to other roles he has played.

But I have yet to see the original, and thankfully they are releasing a special edition DVD of Blade Runner soon which will have 3 different versions of the movie - a whoo hoo, lol.

Just my thoughts on the matter anyway,

Frazz

Blade Runner--great film. Dark and gritty. Love the scene design and the music. Complex, like the book. Thanks for the info about the DVD!

I love Blade Runner!! It's so different from the book, but, for the first time, I like the two of them!
The film, you can't put it in a genre ... like all the masterpieces! :)

Just finished watching Blade Runner on USA tonight (those of you in Mountain/Pacific times, it may be delayed enough to watch. I'm not sure.)

This, and Witness, are Harrison Ford's best work - and this is Ridley Scott's best, bar none. I would have loved being a fly on the wall at the set design work for this film - it's got the most exquisite sets I've ever seen, some part due to noir (as mentioned above), but some parts due to an almost Gothic sensibility. I'd be curious to know if the creators of other book-adapted movies such as Gormenghast, which have something of that same ethos, deliberately consulted this film for design.

All those dumb commercials on the channel though. My God. They should have a commercial-off option. Then again, without the commercials, I would have been forced to spend a Pop-Tart-free night. ;)

Yeah, I love this film myself.

The sound track by Vangelis is my most prized musical posession.
