Is it just me or are bad zombie movies some of the best kind of horror movies. I really don't care for werewolf movies of vampire ones. I enjoy the creatures in them but mostly the stories are bad. I'm not saying that zombie movies aren't, they pretty much are. But there's something about them that somehow makes it better then the rest of the carbon copied rabble that's passed off as horror nowadays. It's a very guilty pleasure of mine. I prefer more "thriller" type movies then horror, if you understand my meaning of it. But somehow a bad zombie movie on the sci-fi channel is an ok experience. Does anybody else find this same situation or is it just me?

I'm not sure. Ever see "Redneck Zombies"? That was a gore fest. I'm not sure if that's good or bad...

I never saw it. Really the only ones I saw where Resident Evil, the bad zombie movie aforementioned, Night of the Living Dead, the original black and whie version(hardly bad, quite good actually), some movie about post apocolyptic zombies created by a meteor's radiation (also yesterday on the sci-fi channel) and I actually forget the rest.

Actually I haven't seen hardly any zombie movies at all... hmmmm...

Hey Magus,

Try the rest of the Living Dead movies. The remake of Night of the living Dead from 1990 with Pat Tallman (Lyta Alexander from Babylon 5), it's a great new take on the original, and was produced by the original Director, and directed by the Special Effects guy from the original. Then Dawn of the Dead (Both the original and the remake from this year are very good. The 3rd flick in the series Day of The Dead has a different kinda creepiness, the Government/Military are trying to tame or control the Zombies. It might seem not as good the first time you watch it, but, upon a second viewing, you can see the story is very strong. The rip off ones (Return of the Living Dead, I, II, and III) are pretty humorous, along the lines of the Freddy Kruger movies.

Yeah, I wanted to see the Nightmare on Elm Strret movies, maybe just the first, for a little while. I guess mostly I want to write a book on zombies and want some source material. Strange the ways the subconsious works, eh? I gott go now. Marching band calls.

Actually I think I saw Day of the Dead on the scifif Channel a long while ago. I saw it two of three times I think. It's not great, but definately not bad. You're right about it being better after the first viewing, though.

Anybody remember a early 80's zombie movie called "Night of the Comet"? It had the actor that played Chacotay in ST:Voyager. Could be argued that it is scifi..not a true zombie movie... still worth mentioning...

That's the one I saw, I think. It was on the sci-fi channel. I didn't see the end. Only up until the one lady killed the girl with the rash and the one guy she worked with. It was a zombie weekend on the Sci-fi channel. After that was Resident Evil. I went and saw Collateral, and thus missed the end of it, but I taped Resident Evil. How did that movie end, by the way? I'm interested to know.

Personally I think that zombie movies can be sci-fi. They are zombies in a sci-fi setiing. If it walks like a zombie, moans like a zombie and eats human flesh and brains like a zombie, it's probably a zombie. LOL

I've been trying to figure out what this one zombie movie is called... its from the eighties, and i'll i can remember about it, in the end there's one guy, one girl and two kids left. And the last scene is them in a car driving through a deserted big city after they have escaped from some military bunker where they went to escape from the zombies... yeah i know its not much to go on, but any help would be appreciated!
thanks!

If it was humorous, it could be part of the "return of the Living Dead" Series. I haven't seen II and III, but I know there is some Military involvement in II or III (Perhaps in both). In The Original "Return of the Living Dead" the Zombies are after specifically brains, and they moan about it "Brains, Brains, need more brains" (or something like that)

Part II

Part III

Actually, it sounds like Night of the Comet, now that I think of it

Is that the one with the meteor that irradiated the people into zombies, the ones that it didn't vaperize? I saw that, but not the ending.

Man, I haven't seen this topic in a while. I'm glad to see it brought back from the dead.

LOL

LOL, back from the dead, you slay me Magus :)

Yes, you have it absolutely correct. Catherine Mary Stewart, Kelli Maroney, and Robert Beltran (Chakotay from ST:Voyager)

Versus was a good zombie movie. And for all you videogame buffs, it is directed by the same guy who directed The Twin Snakes on GCN, the remake of Metal Gear Solid on the PSX.
