Now that this movie is on video, I thought I'd give it another try. Big mistake. The effects don't carry the movie strong enough on a small screen and the plot problems really stick out.

What happened to the writers after the space spiders? This movie had the worst 20 minutes I've seen in a long time. It started out promising...great sets and effects, fun action...then I was suddenly watching a B movie. Lets face it, they blew it.

At least the original series had the good sense to be obvious.

Every forum I have entered tonight bashes the movie/show it's about!
Are these forums not for fans?
Do they exist merely so that haters of these films/series can be heard above the countless people who enjoy entertaining movies/programs?

As I mentioned in the Star Wars thread you also posted to...these forums are for open discussion, not cheerleading. In particular, this board is for movie reviews...good and bad!

I have to disagree with you on the Lost in Space movie being bad. In fact, I would have to say it was one of the better sci-fi flicks to come out in a while. Effects were better than the Phantom menace for Christ's sakes (minus the saber and Pod Race scenes). The dialogue had a lot of one-liners and cheese, but hey, so did the TV show. The cast was absolutely fine. Oldman pulled of Dr.Smith splendidly,....
The movie set us up for a sequel, which I personally can't wait for. It was one of the few TV to Film efforts that was worth the money. And I really enjoyed the last 20 minutes of the flick. I dug the time machine deal, and how it got cross referenced with what was going on after the crash. I liked it. I give it an 8.5 out of 10. Definitely better than Phantom Menace (upset). But hey, that's life....If you want even more cheese, go and rent Barbarella! Now THAT"S priceless sci-fi cheese!

Although it wasn't one of my favorites, I liked the way they made this film a tad bit darker than the original series, a bit more up-to date.

Dr. Smith had a charming personality.
I don't think he will be human again
after turning into a spider, unless
they entered a wormhole to go back
in time. Anyway I don't like his wimp
cowardness, he got what he deserved
after that assassination attempt on
the family.
