Lucas Talks Episode III

Star Wars creator George Lucas told Fox News' Web site that he's mapped out the storyline for his upcoming third prequel. "I know what I want to do," Lucas told columnist Roger Friedman. "It was mapped out from my original writing for 30 years. But still, you have these two pieces—[Star Wars: Episode II—Attack of the] Clones and [Episode] IV [the original Star Wars]—and you have to make them fit together. You're going to see a lot about Anakin and Luke and Princess Leia's mother, all the adults. And of course, Luke and Leia will be infants in it."

Once Lucas wraps the upcoming Episode III after 2005, he said that he'll focus on more personal films. "I'm going to go from complete success to complete failure," he said. "I'm going to make a bunch of movies like [THX 1138]," referring to his 1971 SF movie. "And if people don't like it, too bad. There will be no Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan for me. There won't be any big dramas or Oscars."

George Lucas is driving his fans nuts after a quote on Fox News indicated he might be doing another "Star Wars" trilogy (this time a sequel to the original ones) after all - "Essentially, Peter [Jackson] is making three three-hour movies from one book. And I'm making nine two-hour movies from one book". Naturally this simple quote has lead to Internet hysteria as SW fans flood the chatboards, and shows no sign of slowing down.

From darkhorizons...

DK: Well he has never sad before that he will make another 3, I don't think he will , not going by what I posted above, but you never know....

Actually Dark Knight, I do remember a buncha years ago (Long before Episode one even started Production) hearing there was supposed to be a total of 9 films (The originals, the Prequels, and the Sequels), but the Prequels took so long to come out, everyone even dismissed them as ever showing up. Also I recall, I believe, a few years ago (just before Production began on Episode One), that he said something about he would make the prequels, but, not the sequels. Of course those statements may have been just rumors that perpetuated in what seemed like fact.

Definitely, judging by your post above, it seems that the {Prequels will be the end.

I think I read a quote from Lucas that he's done with Star Wars after Ep. III. Basically, he cited his age, and how old he'd be when he would complete three more movies like that as the reason why. It'd take another ten years to do three more, and he just doesn't want to be that old when he gets done.

Then again, money is a powerful siren song. We'll see.

Oh, yeah. Pretty cheeky to compare Lucas's story to Tolkien's.

Star Wars 7-9: The "Star Wars" sequel trilogy rumour explosion looks thankfully to have been contained. Not only has the original report been fixed up over at the Fox News site (albeit almost 48 hours later), but a Lucasfilm rep gave an official comment to TheForce.Net about the issue: "As many fans are already aware of, there are going to be just 6 movies. Unfortunately, George was misquoted in the interview about number of movies in the Star Wars series. Currently LucasFilm is in preproduction for Episode 3, the last Star Wars movie".

Chewbacca In Episode III

Chewbacca, played by Peter Mayhew, will make an appearance in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode III, the official Web site reported. The character's appearance is meant to tie the prequel film to the original Star Wars, which is also called Episode IV.

"I'm delighted to return as Chewbacca," Mayhew told the site. "I think his re-appearance in this film is a fitting way to tie the whole saga together, especially for Wookiee fans."

Chewbacca is 200 years old in the original Star Wars and is therefore old enough to fit into the prequel timeline, the site reported.

DK: Well he maybe old enough, but will he fit in storywise.....
