I don't think these series pretend to have an overall story. I think the overall story simply happened as the writers went along with a series. I can see why it can irritate some people, but as for myself, some of the best stories I ever wrote happened this way.

Re: "Yoda has such insight into the future that you think he would have been able to warn Obiwan about Anakin's weakness to the dark side."

In The Empire Strikes Back, Luke asked Yoda if Han and Leia were going to die being tortured by Darth Vader. Yoda said, "Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future."

Maybe he couldn't tell.

Oooo...good one fanuilh. I never thought about that.

Still doesn't excuse the droids not being familiar with Tatooine though ;)

At some point could the droids' memory have been wiped? In A New Hope, Luke was going to take R2 to have his memory wiped, before he managed to run off.

Dang!

Just had to come along and squash me!

Well, then we'd better get a memory wiping scene in one of these movies or I get to nit pick again!

LOL, Master! Well, far be it from me to defend the plot holes in Star Wars! Lucas probably hasn't thought of that one yet!
