Space... its big, dark, and lonely. Especially if your on a floating city that has been out so long its history is kinda forgotten. So its a big deal when they run into another ship. Russo manages to tell a story, without being caught up in the nonessentials. The conflict mages to be resolved without a true explanation, which only makes the story more human. Perhaps the best thing about the novel, it manages to show how we remain our humanity no matter how perverse the society.
