His awesome RIVERWORLD saga is in the works of becoming a tv series.
So what are your thoughts about this series and would you like to watch the show?

The Riverworld series took place along a winding river, and at least one of the series referred to a labyrinth. I don't know if that is what you were thinking of?

I didn't care much for those of the Riverworld series I read, but I did like The Stone God Awakens.

I read To your Scattered Bodies Go which was excellent.
On one level I liked the use of real people as characters as I learned about them, on the other hand using them smacks of un-originality.

I may or may not read more of the books.

I've enjoyed some of his short stories quite a bit, but just read "Behind the Walls of Terra" and was disappointed. Lots of action, but nothing else. Might try "To Your Scattered Bodies Go".

Farmer is brilliant. He's one of those writers (like Zelazny) who is best known for a series or two, but his best work tends to be buried in the used paperback sections. Here's a couple of suggestions for Farmer at his best:

The Unreasoning Mask: I started this one several times, but never made it past the first few pages. When I ran out of books one day and plowed further, I couldn't believe how good it was. An excellent example of how Farmer takes a tired old idea and makes it new (in this case the ideas of ancient alien artifacts and the universe as a sentient being.)

The Other Log of Phileas Fogg: A wonderful romp. This is a retelling of Around the World in Eighty Days, except that Fogg is an interdimensional secret agent battling enemy spies on Earth. Great fun, and everything he adds to the story fits perfectly into the original story.

I'd just like to mention "Traitor to the Living" one of my favourite books and well worth reading if you can find a copy.
