As the title suggests, the debate is over which book is the better vision of the coming cyber age; Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash or Bruce Sterling's Islands in the Net.

Better vision? I'm not sure that Stephenson's would be it, although you never know how things'll turn out with the world, but I've not yet read Sterling's Islands in the Net, so I don't have an opinion on which to base a comparison. However, one thing I can say is that I LOVED Snow Crash for its characters, especially the MC.

I agree, the MC rocked. We may soon find ourselves hopelessly addicted to the internet. And I quote Alec Empire when I say, "One day will come you enter the cyberspace and you never ever want to get out cause reality is •••• and cyberspace is god." At least I think thats what he says. At any rate, Islands in the Net was viewed by many as being prophetic in regards to where the WWW is headed. They should really make a movie about one of these books, The Matrix could kiss it's status good bye (although it is still a fine series of flix).

Well, number one was, anyway...
The second was so full of holes that I haven't bothered to see the third yet (I'll wait for the video).
