Just picked up First King of Shannara by Terry Brooks. Haven't read any Terry Brooks yet, by the way.

I looked so dumbfounded when I went to get that book. I wanted to get something from the Shannara series(I was planning to get Sword of Shannara, actually), but the shelf had about 10 books with the word "Shannara" on them. I was like, "Where the hell do I start?" So the guy told me that First King of Shannara was a prelude to Sword of Shannara, and is actually the first book in the entire Shannara series.

Can't wait to read it......

Um hate to say it But you should have bought the sword of Shannara first, the King was written after the first triogly and after the hertiage of Shannara and was meant to be read after those...Sorry to say that and such, the First King will let you know a lot about those books and spoil some of them, then agian having the knowledge of the First King may ,make it better, But the First was intended according to Mr Brooks himself to be read after his first three and the hertiage of Shannara. I have read all of his works and I love his style though many do not, I hope you will come to enjoy his works as much as I have, I hope The First King wont discourage you to read his other works.

And for a quick note the actual first book was the sword of Shannara like I said he wrote the First King after his first7 books set in the Shannara world.

Awww, thats just frickin' great! Good thing I haven't started reading it yet. Maybe I can return it and get Sword of Shannara. I still have the reciept, but can you even return books?

I was tricked, I tell ya! I looked a the first couple pages (they tell you what order the books come in) and First King was first, and Sword of Shannara was next...

I just hope I can exchange it for Sword of Shannara...
