Maybe we can start a thread?

Right now, I'm reading artemis fowl and a college guide book. The first one is fun, the second is not.

Ugh. College guidebooks. I remember those days :). I read artemis fowl with my son, we both enjoyed it. Have you looked into cracking that secret code? Son's been spending alot of time at artemisfowl.com trying to figure it out but I haven't gotten around to giving him a hand yet.
I liked the cinematic feel of the book, guess that's why they're going to make a film of it. What did you think of it?

There is a new Artemis Fowl game up online by Puffin Books with which Eoin Colfer has been involved. The game is up until 8/3/02 and revolves around getting teams together and capturing escaped trolls for prizes. It's a lot of fun for kids - and big kids too :)

i tend to like Artemis Fowl partly because it's different from Harry Potter (which i love) but Artemis Fowl is different from any other book. the fairys have guns, they don't have real wings, they aren't the cute little things that fly around with out any real point.

Anyone heard murmurs about a movie? I have. They're thinking about casting some horrible person I can't remember for Holly.

(Foaly is my fav. char! Tinfoil hats!!)

Eww. I hope to God they didn't cast Hillary Duff or some overrated teenage freak like that. All my friends say I would be a good Holly, but well that's not going to happen now is it? Just keeping my hopes up that it'll be as good as the books
-Kiki
PS
Foaly ROCKS!! Go tinfoil hats!!
PPS Has anyone BESIDES me decoded the code on the bottom of the first book's pages? Does that mean I am obsessed? Ehhhh.....

Well I have now finally read the first two bks, and I have the third, sitting in my bookcase.....

Somehow the first book didn't capture me, it was good but I don't know, maybe the fact it was different, the main charcter Fowl being a criminal, I not sure, anyway I really enjoyed the second one it was great, really capture me....they had to work together.....Fowl and the fairies

I don't know what the story is with the movies, but as far as I know I've heard nothing. There seems to be very little info on Imdb.....no cast so far....

One question does anyone know how many books are going to be in the series???

One other point, both books now have bends in the spine, after only one read....these are new books by the way.....

You should be able to read a few times before this happens, the books are not even that thick....:(

maybe a few goblins are working at the printing factory......

Well according to http://www.eoincolfer.com/, there is....

This from the Q&A section

For Artemis Fowl fans, the world book day book for 2004 is a short Artemis book called ‘The 7th Dwarf’ also out in March.

How many Artemis-Fowl-Volumes do you plan? (Obviously "The Eternity Code" is not the last one.)
There will be at least 4 Artemis books. I have not planned any after that, but I may have a good idea.

Fowl Filming Delayed

A film version of Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl children's fantasy books has been postponed because of unfavorable dollar exchange rates, the British Z Review Web site reported. The Harry Potter rival had been set to film this summer in Ireland. But the euro-to-dollar rate has increased the cost of the production by nearly 20 percent, the site reported.

There was no word as to whether Miramax would transfer production elsewhere, the site added.

the cover of the first book says:
carry me always, carry me well, i am thy teacher of herb and spell
the rest can be figured out easily using the pictures of the book text throughout the book. the bottom says something about a pot-cleaner who was a seer. he foresaw someone of artemis' description.

the cover of the second book says:
fairy creature heed this warning, on earth the human era is dawning, so hide friend, lest you be found, and make a home benieth the ground.
the bottom of the pages says that if your ears are pointy and you feel out of place in human society you may have elfin ancestors

the cover of the third book says:
think fairy, think again.
i have not yet decoded the entire alphabet due to the text being harder to read than any other text as it relies on a number of lines from a center point and the lines can go either way
