How intriguing. Why is it all right for everyone except the author to post links to sites about the books?

Authors are welcome to post links as part of their discussion, but not if they are only going to post an ad. Ads are spam regardless of the subject. Spam isn't tolerated here. Links to genre websites, including author's sites, are provided for free in the Resource Network. The Newswire also accepts announcements for new book releases.

Its all about taking advantage of the appropriate section of this site. Moderators have to make a call about whether a forum post was appropriate. In this case, the decision was that it was not.
