Scifi and Fantasy Forum: Books and Book Reviews: Giver
GiverWe have moved to new forum software and posting here is closed!
I highly recommend The Giver by Lois Lowry. It's a kids (young adult) book (Newberry winner), but very readable by anybody. Considering the state of sci-fi/fantasy right now, the writing level is indistinguishable from works for adults.
Not really a 'Utopia' more of a 'Negitive Utopia' if that makes any sense
I hated the ending of that book...
There's actually a term for it: Distopia.
If you hated the ending you should read its companion, "Gathering Blue," and THEN its (The Giver's) sequel, "Messenger" (Messenger won't make sense if you don't read gathering blue)
