It was the early 70s, 71 to maybe 73? Could have been earlier. Maybe around the time UFO was running, maybe came out after that. I was pretty young at the time. 1st or 2nd grade so my memory is VERY fuzzy. It was set aboard a ship that carried these people, who I think had some type of conflict with another group. I think this was a very big spaceship. Maybe taking a civilization to another world? It may have been a British show. I do remember the good guys? talking to someone on these randomly placed, round TV like screens every episode. As if their contacts would instruct them from there. They would roam this ship, ocasionally running into the bad guys?, sometimes some other groups that were like..different cultures? On one episode I remember a guy explaining an apple that was growing on a tree( Oh yeah, they had trees and plants growing in places on this ship too) to this kid, saying "Juicy" or "Sweet" as the kid bit into it. Then as they left, theres this round TV on a stick thing, in the weeds. There was a blonde girl with them. ( This stuff is coming to me as I type) I think it came on in the evening, 6 or 7 pm.
Not a lot to go on. Anybody got any idea what this show was?

Was it eventually revealed that the ship in the show had originally been intended to be a "colony ship?"

It could have been a colony ship. They may have reached the bridge in the end. Like I said my memories are really faded. I dont know if it ran for a whole season. Maybe 7 or 8 weeks. At least from what I can recall after 30 some years. I may have missed the first couple of shows. My older sister was the one who found it, and I started watching it with her. Being 6 or 7 years old, with a big sister, you really dont have a lot of say in whats to be watched on the tube. She can barely remember the show, but not anything about it.

Could it be the television series "Battlestar Galactica" that you are trying to remember?

I believe this popular series portrayed stories about a group of space ships that carried what remained of the human species on a desperate search to find a new home somewhere in the galaxy.

Following the annihilation of Earth the last and only hope for humanity had to evade those from other space faring and war-like worlds in a quest to find a suitable earth-like planet which they could colonize. One of their principal enemy's was a race of cybernetic life forms which I believe were called the "Sylons". There was also at least one other more human-like race of villains as well.

-Vincent Vega (10-03-04)

Other possibilities are "Space 1999" and "Lost in Space".

phaqu2,

btw, nice nick ;-])

The show that your description reminded me of was The Starlost. Does this sound familiar...

"In the year 2790 A.D., a giant Earthship, Ark, drifts through deep space, out of control, its crew having been killed five hundred years earlier. When the accident that killed the crew occurred, the airlocks connecting the ship's domes that housed the last survivors of the dead planet, Earth, were sealed. Cut off from the outside world, many communities simply forgot that they were on a spacecraft."

That just might be it. The details are foggy but ,that sounds like a winner. Did it air in the early 70s? I know vhs really didnt exist in the general public market at that time, but would anyone know if some copies are still around? Like I said, I remember very little, but, I remember watching it every week.(Till it went off the air). The Starlost huh. Cool. Thanks BTW..What was the deal with the guy on the tv-stick thing?

Yup. Did the ole google search, and there it was.It all came back, kinda,in a little rush. My buddy Jimmy had a model of the ARK in his bedroom when we were kids. I havnt thought about that show in about 30 years, till one night,me and my wife were in high fi buys or circuit city, (or some place like that) and they had a plazma tv on a skinny stand.(TV on a stick, the computer terminal) and I kept getting flashbacks to that show. The whole night I was trying to figure out what it was, till I got home and tried to look for "it" on line.
Anyway, thanks

Erm there was a show in the late 70s i think about a rocket made in a junkyard. I remember it had a automatic gear shift for a ignition controller! I cant remember the title but they kept going to the moon i think and picking up various things and getting into scrapes. Saturn something comes to mind...upcc.
