Quote:Even the worst episode of Farscape...is still better than any of the other shows out there these days. Enterprise is just another version of ST-V'ger. I'm having real trouble getting into that show. Out of the 26 episodes they did this season there are only two I would watch again as a repeat. Andromeda is OK because of everybody but Sorbo. Laura Bertram (Trance), Lisa Ryder (Beka) and Lexa Doig (Rommie) are all good looking woman as well as fine actress'. Keith Hamilton Cobb is tough & buff as Tyr but the CGI work needs a major overhaul imho. Story wise it's a decent show. Then there's Stargate SG-1. Yawn. It did do better though in the ratings department, a 1.8 Vs a 1.6 than Farscape. Both Andromeda & SG-1 are proof positive that a shows main stars should stick to acting. Both Kevin Sorbo and Richard Dean Anderson (who sleepwalks through his part) wear the Executive Producers hat. I think that gives an actor too much control over a show which in turn can affect the quality. Once again just my opinion. EFC is dead even though it's still on. So that leaves Farscape as the best sci-fi entertainment being made right now without equal!
I'd like to remind faithful fans of Babylon that we too had *stand alone* episodes during an intense story arc during S-3 (the shadow war). *A late Delivery from Avalon* & *Walkabout* were both stand alone's in themselves and great TV. They also had hints to do with the arc, Ranger Marcus, Dr. Franklin free of stims, etc. Same here with Farscape's *LaMST*. Pure fluff on one level, a stand alone {but}, we are given new clues into the relationship between Crichton & Ka' D'argo. Also Chiana & Sikozu work together as a team to get Lo'la up and running using the DNA from D'argo's puke...LOL. The bottom line is they work as a team, not as adversaries (see: Chiana & Jool). Ah, we know from the previews that Aeryn is soon to return so let's get into the new cast and no matter how the story may turn, I, We(?), still love Farscape for the show that it is. They still can space the Old Woman as far as I'm am concerned. ZimNova
Zim! I totally agree with you about the old woman. The sooner she's spaced IMHO the better. She's not worth the trouble. So far, Farscape S4 hasn't been as good as I had anticipated. Maybe it's because we had to wait sooooooo long for new episodes that when they were finally here they didn't live up to all of the hype. I dunno. I have to admit I really can't say I like the new chick either. I'm keeping an open mind, though. I find I do miss Crais and Talyn. Where's Stark, I wonder? Aeryn will be back, so that should be something to look forward to. I wonder if Scorpy is really dead....hope not.

I've been thinking about the different "feel" to the show this season and other than CK the only way I can describe it is this; They're trying to jam 16 oz. of show into a 12 oz. can. You know, like they shot 52 min. of film to make the story work but they have to fit it all into a 44 min. episode so it feels rushed and there is a frantic editing style where they jump from scene to scene without giving the viewer time to think about what just happened. I think that's why some viewers have been feeling confused this season? As to old Scorpius. I don't believe he's dead. I mean this character just keeps on going & going & going. (insert bunny joke here) The central core of the story arc is still wormholes, either used as a weapon against or by the Scarrans, or as a means of transport for Crichton to return one day to Earth. Scorpius is still the main PK "wormhole guy". They are also setting up as a main story the conflict between the PK's and the Scarrans for control of the UT's. How the other players (Nebari etc.) will fit in is still anyone's guess as well as something to look forward to in future ep.'s. I like Sikozu. Raelee Hill does a fine job at looking perplexed and I like how her "scales" only show at certain angles or in certain light. As to Stark. The rumor mill has it that Paul Goddard is working on The Matrix 2 & 3 currently being filmed in Oz and will return later not as a regular but as a guest cast member. We have a two week break this time and based on the teaser for the next ep. I'm really hoping for two things. 1) Aeryn is not pregnant! Let's not start a Payton Place in space. 2) Aeryn and John do not get back together! I'd rather see John hook up with a fun gal like Sikozu or maybe run across Jenovia again. Aeryn is so bloody frelled up emotionally after the loss of T-John I hope she returns in full PK kick-a** mode and they get on with the story. I will be really disappointed if she has to fall back into Crichton's arms as the only way to re-center herself. How typically male chauvinistic that would be! I liked the "old" Aeryn better, strong and sure of herself because of her PK training. She used to be John's equal and not subordinate to him. ZimNova
Posted By: Iznardi Jul 03, 2002 - 11:15 am | | I thought this episode was okay, but as you can tell, it did not prompt me to write anything. I was glad to see that humor was back. I see no point in Granny and was glad to see her get roughed up a bit in this episode. They finally seemed to be giving decent air time to Chiana and D'argo again, too. I like the end, when everyone seemed so happy to hear Pilot's voice. It was clear that they were all thinking of Moya as home and just wanted to get back there. The aliens leave me cold. Thought they had walked in off the set of LEXX. They weren't very funny, they're weren't very interesting, and they weren't very believable. With races like the PKs, the Scarrans, and the Nebari already created, I don't see why the writers are bothering with "new" species. The old ones are so much better. Happy Fourth! Everyone (or a belated Happy Canada Day!)
Hi! I agree, again. About Aeryn being preggers. I know a lot of the Fascape fans want John and Aeryn back together, but as was mentioned above, she is too frelled up emotionally right now. I too, preferred their relationship when there was more mystery and tension between them. Although I don't deny they make a hot couple. Hmm..even if she **Was** preggers, she may have already had the kid...when Season 4 began, they really didn't give any time frame..."Sometime later...." It was a while, judging by Crichton's overgrown beard and his residence on the dying Leviathan...coulda been 9 months, eh? I hope Farscape doesn't fall into the "space opera" rut...with babies and what not. Aeryn doesn't need Crichton to be whole. She's a PK! I sort of liked the idea of her and Crais getting together, but I doubt that could happen. Of course, one never knows. Not to be a "feminist" but they have brought in a number of new babes for the guys...what about us gals? I'd like to see some new beefcake. Now that Crais is gone...he, IMHO, was much sexier than John...but I always have liked the dark, bad boy types. I didn't like the new aliens, either...b-o-r-i-n-g! LOL about they looking like they walked off the Lexx set. Oh well...we shall have to see what happens... "Makes me Nervous!"
Posted By: Bmat Jul 04, 2002 - 04:06 am | | I wouldn't mind seeing an attraction between John and the new girl. Crais was intriguing until he got wimpier. I hope they don't pursue the John/Aeryn attraction. As others have said, she's too much of a mess now. I liked the episode. The aliens didn't bother me; they seemed reasonable. Their personalities came through- good writing. The concept of the protective field was fun. I laughed about the old woman, she's as entertaining as Chiana.
I've long been a contrarian of sorts, and I'd sorta like to say something good about Maranta (the Old Woman) ... um, but it's hard. I get the feeling that they are trying to reintroduce the 'mysticism' angle that Zhaan (and to some extent Stark) represented, though this new character is more obviously using technology -- hallucinogenic powders, 'natural' substances -- to induce the nonrational experiences. There's a place for her in the story-arc, for sure; I guess we've just gotta sit tight. After all, it seems to me there used to be continuous raving about what a yotz Stark was all the time ... and reading through these posts it looks like people are rooting to have him BACK! These characters take time to grow, time to be revealed. (Does anybody else get the feeling that there's a homage to Dr Who in this developing Farscape habit of picking up and offloading various 'companions'?)
