The Star Trek rumor mill is one of the best in the business. Here's where you can spread all the gossip you want!

Posted By: Sindatur Oct 10, 2003 - 05:50 am | | LOL Nuerolanis. I don't thnk the crew needed to be stripped that far back, but, I like the idea of replacing Archer and Hoshi.
lol. Thanks.

Quote:Cultures throughout the galaxy have relied on stories as a means of passing wisdom and history down to succeeding generations. On Earth, storytellers like the Brothers Grimm or Aesop have imparted morals to children and adults alike with their rich tales. So why shouldn't Star Trek's rich and vast tapestry of alien cultures have their own fables and folklore? Well, they do ... Klingon Fable: The Legend of Gorath In the "The Young Hunter," a Klingon boy on his first Targ hunt learns a valuable lesson about honesty, honor and boasting when his Grandfather tells him "The Legend of Gorath."
Two of the Star Trek episodes in the 60s have images and noise effects stuck in my mind. In one episode a gigantic log-shaped meteor has the power to swallow and destroy planets, I think. The other episode was those cute little furballs that fed on food and mutiplied like the movie Gremlins. Those furballs must have razor sharp teeth to break open the packaged food. They even make great pets because they make this sound: Cool..cool..cool..cool. Re-introducing the log-shaped meteor and the furballs in our present Star Trek episodes would be a treat.
Posted By: Sindatur Dec 15, 2003 - 06:03 am | | The tribbles actually were re-used in Star Trek Deep Space 9. Episode was called More Trouble with Tribbles I believe. The Doomsday "Planet Killer" device I think is similar to the Crystalline Entity that destroyed Data's home town, and appeared a couple times in the series (Star Trek: The Next Generation), so unlikely to see the original Planet Killer again.

Posted By: Bmat Dec 15, 2003 - 10:04 am | | Thanks, Zim. So, it was an alien device and it was Commodore Decker who approached it.
Enterprise Gets Limited Renewal? UPN will green-light a fourth season of Star Trek: Enterprise, but will only give the struggling SF series a 12-episode commitment, according to a rumor on the SyFy Portal Web site. Citing two sources, SyFy Portal added that Enterprise could earn another 12-episode order if the ratings for the initial dozen episodes merit it. The site noted that the retooled Enterprise, bolstered by heightened action and the Xindi arc, has performed reasonably well against such stiff competition as the Fox juggernaut American Idol and The WB's popular Smallville. SyFy Portal noted that it was still unclear whether or not longtime Trek executive producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga would continue to run the show if it does return. A final announcement about the fate of Enterprise is expected within the next two weeks. from http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main.html?2004-04/01/15.00.rumors In other news.....New Zealand will soon get season 2.....
Posted By: ZimNova Apr 02, 2004 - 07:28 pm | | Thanks DK. Problem is, suck is as suck does, as in ST-E. American Idol is fodder for "sheeple" who boost the ratings for "reality" TV dren. ST-E plays second fiddle, badly. I give up on ST-E...more of the same bores my brain! The best cable network show, is without doubt, *The Shield* on FX. Vic Mackie, my kind of cop! Watch It!
Berman Talks New Trek Film Rick Berman, who has been shepherding the Star Trek film series, told SCI FI Wire that he has had "very, very early" talks with Star Trek: The Next Generation star and director Jonathan Frakes about a new Trek movie, but one that takes the franchise in an entirely new direction. "I spoke to Jonathan about a half an hour ago," Berman said in an interview July 20 at UPN's fall press preview in Los Angeles. "He's in Japan, and he's coming here [because] his film [Thunderbirds] is premiering Saturday here in Los Angeles. There are very, very early conversations going on about a film project. But they're so early that it's really kind of silly to talk about it now." Berman added that the movie would not center on the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew, as have the last several movies. "The movie that we're having very early discussions about would have nothing to do with any of the characters that have ever existed on any of the Star Trek series," Berman said. "It would be an entirely new setting and an entirely new set of characters, and it would take place prior to any of the series, including [UPN's Star Trek:] Enterprise." In the wake of the disappointing box-office performance of the last Star Trek movie, 2002's Nemesis, there has been little movement on a new Trek movie, and Next Generation cast members have said they are ready to hang it up. If Berman's idea comes to fruition, it would mark the first Trek movie not based on a television series. from http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main.html?2004-07/21/13.00.film In other news.....New Zealand finally gets Season 2, starting Friday (NZ time)....
Cut "Enterprise". Trash "Voyager". Never happened... Delete all but the first season of DS9 from existance. Star Trek and TNG...never get enough! Without Gene things have gone down hill. What really made ST work wasn't only character, it was also energy, creativity, passion, suspence, but most of all -- the thing we all love but get so little of in the modern culture -- optimism. Enterprise wan't energetic and optimistic enough. Instead of juicing it up, they decided to break it down last season. Yeah, dark and depressing is just what us trekkies REALLY want. Yeah. Thanks, st producers! And we thought we knew...
Well Neurolanis I have adifferent view, I'm probably one of the few here who liked Voyager I also enjoyed all of DS9 Of course I enjoyed TNG, and Star Trek As for Enterprise, that's for sure one I don't enjoy......
Posted By: Phoenix Nov 19, 2004 - 03:05 pm | | I find Entreprise's captain too much like captain Kirk in the series, that's why I don't like it so much. He's the "doing all man". The other characters don't get to play so much in the story. It's too much about him and not enough about the team. My favorite was the last few years of Next Generation, the ones running during DS9. I find all Star Treks tend to become better in the second half of their life span.
I really loved the three-part story with Brent Spiner. I felt that it was Enterprise's finest hour (or hours.) Man, the cast really made Spiner look good. It reminds you of Roddinberry's (excuse the spelling) unique gift for spotting natural talent. I feel as though this has been the worse factor for the last two Treks, and threatens to plague the future.
