Wow, I must have seen a different original series and a different Re-Imagining than the reviewer.

The reviewer sees the Original Series as high drama, and incredibly deep, while seeing the Mini-Series as shallow and hollow.

I never saw the Original as any kind of masterpiece, just cheesy good fun. No real depth or high drama. On the other hand, the mini-series was packed with drama IMHO (Not afraid to kill people or make hard decisions, no sappy cute kids except the one the president let die).

My main beef with the Mini-series was Starbuck being a female. I didn't mind so much that they changed the character to a female, but she was still written and played as a male, but, by a female actress. It would've been fine had she been written and played as a strong female (Ala Ivanova or Delenn from B5, Carrie Dobro's Dureena character in Crusade, etc), but the way it was written and played didn't work for me. And then of course there was the lack of "Original style Cylons". I could've dealt with their look being changed, but as someone (I believe it was Iz or Zim) pointed out a show about Cyclons, really should've had some Cylons in it.

As for the original, as fun as it was, it certainly had alot of flaws (at least in my mind) keeping it from being the Masterpiece of High Drama that alot of those who hated the Mini-series seem to remember
