Yeah...I don't think it was Scorpy either. Scarrans maybe...kinda hoping its yet another new threat (I'm a glutton for punishment!) Yes, he was an evil genius. And very dangerous. He had a prison ship all to himself he was so bad. And welcome to our forums Nomad !
Posted By: ZimNova May 08, 2001 - 11:39 am | | Well that got the topic going again! I was being just a tad bit sarcastic (oh really Zim?, we'd never of guessed) about Jool she seems so bloody helpless. I think Bmat is correct in that she was served hand and foot back on her homeworld which explains her lack of understanding how to do the most basic things like the one I spoke of prior (the gun not the potty). Really though I was thinking about some of the Babylon actors I've met at various con.'s whom have mentioned how at times when in costume and full make-up taking care of business becomes a major hassle requiring assistance from a stage hand and then a half hour back in the chair to return to character. I also agree with Crowe & Master that is was the Scarran's whom were in this area of the UT's and put the woopin' on Talyn. Why else would the writers have dropped that clue on us? However the "how & why" part of it is still a mystery. We know that Talyn up to this point is the baddest ship around outside of a PK command carrier (remember Talyn ran from Scorpius' ship rather that fight after Crais thought he had killed Scorpy in the prowler.) It will be interesting to find out if the Scarran ship was destroyed during the battle or if it was a chance hit and run mission of some sort and just how tough are these Scarran ships anyway? We know little of Scarran battle tactics and I for one am hoping for some huge space battles in the future as we have some major players all with their own agendas running around the UT's right now. The Scarrans are after Scorpius, Scorpius is off on his new gammak base working on wormhole tech. for the PK who are after Moya and the escaped prisoners as well as anyone else whom is a threat to their version of *peace*, the Nebari along with their *standard host vessels* may still be looking for Chiana and Durka (not knowing he's dead thanks to Rygel) and all of them seem to have control over different parts of the UT's which btw don't seem all that uncharted as finding planets and bases is easy. Even the 'shadow depository' was the worst kept secret around? This all adds up to some vary exciting next few new episodes for which I can hardly wait. ZimNova
Good point...for being "uncharted", it sure seems well known!
Posted By: Crowe May 09, 2001 - 07:13 am | | Master, I've often been curious about that myself. But I'm getting the feeling that Uncharted just means not colonized by mainstream society. It doesn't mean that it doesn't have roads and people don't know the area. I'm thinking that the PK's or some other big bad race just hasn't gotten around to "annexing" the UT. I live in alabama. There are lots of places "not on the map" here but I know where they are and know them pretty well. I could see that in space. I think we are getting Uncharted and Undiscovered mixed up here But I keep thinking the same thing. There sure are A TON of people in the UT who happen to find Chriton and the lot of them over and over again. I suppose the show would drag if no one could find them, but this many times. Sheesh. I think they sort of messed up with that name. They seem to know where they are. That repository certainly was popular. And have you noticed that Criton's name seems to be known: "Hey, Scorpius wants this guy..."? The same races seem to be around too. It doesn't feel very "out there in the wilds" to me. Its a minor nit really, it just strikes me as an odd choice of words. Maybe it only means none of the "core" races control it?

Posted By: Sindatur May 10, 2001 - 05:59 am | | Well isn't the "Uncharted" part, meant to be Uncharted by the Peacekeepers? Other than the secret bases, and Scorpy's band of thugs, there really aren't alot of Peacekeepers just mulling about. So maybe the Scarrans and what have you are the ones that know the area, just the Peacekeepers aren't real up on it.
Posted By: Crowe May 10, 2001 - 06:54 am | | Sin, that's what I'm thinking. I figure there is a central Government of some sort .. Probably where the PK's come from. They are probably the military of that interstellar government. Naturally they have explored much of space but it's probably a huge task. And areas with little or no military gain would be marked for reference but the system wouldn't be charted. Also, there is a matter of reach. Do they have the resources to explore that far out? Sounds like they've sent just enough scouts to get a basic familiarity with the major planets in the UT. But they haven't charted it for space lanes, navigation, star burst etc. It's probably on their maps labeled "To be explored at a later date" .. and "Chrition was here" ..heh. As far as the rumors spreading about Chrition. No body every said the UT was empty. There are plenty of people around. They've stopped on quite a few trading posts. I imagine others would have to. Combine that with the beacons Crais left and then Scorpy. It's no wonder the most wanted guy by the PK's has a rep in the UT. Where else would you hide from the PK? It's like the old west in a way. You know where stuff is, but.. "Law just don't go round here dog" --Crowe
