Posted By: Aldan Apr 01, 2004 - 01:55 pm | | Hope? Hope not. Do or do not. There is no hope. Hope is for fools unwilling to do something about the situation, that it is...
Posted By: Nomad Apr 01, 2004 - 03:25 pm | | The WB is full ofcrap. Justifying that its ok with most fans, =but not the prutists. Does anyone at this site think it is rally stupid and Byron should be in the DVD's?
Posted By: Aldan Apr 01, 2004 - 03:52 pm | | Nomadic translation: The Warner Brothers network, the WB, is filled with fecal matter, in saying that if something is okay with a number of people, then it is fine with all of them, and that this makes it morally justified to do it. I ask you if you believe this to be utterly incomprehensible and whether you think that Byron should or should not be on the DVDs.
Posted By: ZimNova Apr 01, 2004 - 05:52 pm | | THERE IS NO FRELLING WAY S-5 can be complete without Byron...NO FRELLING WAY! Why not cut out Sheridan kissing Delenn when he is "taking a Sunday Drive" in *SiL*? April Fools, yes?
Posted By: Aldan Apr 01, 2004 - 06:12 pm | | April Fools perhaps. Maybe we'll know soon, but then again, perhaps not until the release...
Posted By: Sindatur Apr 02, 2004 - 05:34 am | | Today Antony is confirming it was a fake. Sure got me for several hours, until Bmat, (and then ProfCrash on Hostboard) pointed out that it was April Fools Day.
Posted By: Bmat Apr 02, 2004 - 06:13 am | | That's a relief. I was hoping that it was a prank.
Good thing I managed to stay away on that day, on the other hand that would have been the next day, since I'm a day ahead, but I also stay away that day.......confused?
heheheh I posted this at Hostboard but what the hey... Season 5 has been out on VHS for the last 5 years. The Byron episodes remained in the VHS. The give away here was that the actor was upset with compensation for the DVD. That could not be a problem as the actors contract would have covered the use of VHS and the like.
Posted By: Iznardi Apr 05, 2004 - 01:03 pm | | Hey anyone, two questions: I was watching old episodes and movies. Did it seem in the series that Sheridan and Franklin and Gkar were already acquainted before meeting on B5? I guess they were, since they went on a mission in In the Beginning, but I don't remember them ever alluding to this in the series. Also, what exactly was Lyta Alexander? She's supposed to be the Vorlons' ultimate weapon. But what did that turn out to be?
Posted By: Bmat Apr 05, 2004 - 01:13 pm | | Was the weapon that she was a strong telepath, and they could breed telepaths from her cells. And the telepaths were the way to defeat the Shadows?
Posted By: ZimNova Apr 05, 2004 - 05:20 pm | | My impression about Lyta was after being "enhanced" by the Vorlon her power was like a P-25 or more. Remember she held off a Shadow capitol ship singlehandedly when they went looking for the missing Capt. Sheridan at Z'ha'Dum and later during S-5 used her Psi powers to get the entire dining room to tap their fingers along with her when confronted by Capt. Lockley to show her strength. Then later she zapped the camera in the holding cell with a look during the visit from G'Kar and when Zack went to remove her restraints as she & G'Kar were leaving the station she just smiled and they fell off! Paraphrasing. G'Kar; "If you could have removed them all along, why did you wait until now?". Lyta; "They were already nervous enough about my powers, as long as they thought I was restrained I was safe. Or something along those lines. Bottom line was I thought Lockley would have had her killed if they understood her real powers. Remember during the love making scene with Byron he saw (in Lyta's mind) the tanks the Vorlon were using to clone Lyta to create more super teeps to use against the Shadows. While I never thought she could "become" as Jason Ironheart did in "Mindwar" I believed she had the "potential" to use her mental powers in the same destructive way against any enemy, person or ship, that might be a threat to her. That was my take on her statement; "You know how in a war there a lot of small weapons, then a few really big weapons and then an ultimate weapon to be used when all the other weapons have failed? I'm THAT weapon!". ZimNova
Posted By: Sindatur Apr 06, 2004 - 06:00 am | | Very succinctly put, Zim, my feelings exactly. I think the thing that summed it up best, was putting her just a step below Jason Iron Heart. Which, by the way, was apparently connected to the Super-Teep in one of the original Plans. Talia was meant to become Lyta's arc, after Kosh used the VCR crystal to repair the original Talia, however the actress wanted out, so they changed the arc a bit, and brought Pat Tallman back (Who I believe was supposed to have Talia's Arc originally, but the Powers that be wanted someone sexier than Pat Tallman)
Posted By: Nomad Apr 06, 2004 - 06:13 am | | My take on Lyta was that she had learned to control her powers to the point that she could actually turn herself into a thermal nuclear device at will. Like it was mentioned, one step below Jason, who turned into pure energy and went on his merry way in the universe.
Iz: on Sheridan, G'Kar, and Franklin. This is in no way shape or form alluded to in the series. Franklin's comments regarding Sheridan when they first meet indicates that this is the first time they are meeting. Franklin and Sinclair on the other hand, knew each other when Franklin arrives on B5. Additionally, Sinclair seems to know Delenn very well, my guess is they first meet after the boched meeting with G'Kar and Franklin. G'Kar is interesting. Clearly Sincalir really disliked G'Kar at the begining of season 1. I am not sure that tracks with what happened in In The Begining. I am of the opinion that Sinclair was initially selected for that mission but that Michael O'Hare was not available, did not want to participate, or JMS decided just to give that bit to Sheridan. I lean towards the third selection. By the time In the Begining is released, most peeople are familiar with Sheridan and Sincalir has been out of the picture for ages. I need to check Lurkers, but I think JMS might have even said that he swapped Sheridan for Sinclair in this instance.
OK JMS says the following "Will Sinclair even be mentioned? Nobody said he wouldn't be mentioned; using the footage we shot from "And the Sky Full of Stars," he's in the last part of the movie. Bear in mind that at the time he was a squadron leader assigned to Earth as part of the defense network there, so didn't have a great deal to do with the larger parts of the war. Basically, each character (with the exception of one or two) gets one or two scenes in the movie (we have a lot of them, remember). To bring Michael out from New York, at first class airfare, plus accommodations, salary, for one or two scenes (one of which we already *had* him for) was impossible under the budget, much as we discussed it and would've been interested in doing so." And "Sheridan and Franklin had already met when Sheridan arrived on B5. Yeah, in my notes on Sheridan I had him meeting Sheridan before, but never did much with it at the time...we never see the first time Sheridan and Franklin meet in the second season, and when we do they're hanging out pretty casually, as people who've met each other before might. Bear in mind, also, that there's about 11 years between the two incidents, and at best they were casual acquaintances on one mission. " So, according to JMS this seemed to be planned all along, not sure that I buy it. It just doesn't fit. But then again, I am a Sinclair fan and that is probably biasing my viewing.
Posted By: Iznardi Apr 06, 2004 - 11:20 am | | Thanks, Crash, I figured you would know. I found my taped version of In the Beginning last week clearing out a box, and so obviously hadn't watched it for awhile. I was trying to square the plot with the series and the books about Centauri Prime. You think they'll be anything like a 10 year reunion for the cast? That would be coming up in 2005 or 2006, I think. JMS seems like the kind of guy who would mark an anniversary.
