Posted By: ZimNova Aug 03, 2001 - 05:08 pm | | We all know what happened to Icarus. Didn't listen to dad and bit the dust. Abide: 1[to remain]; 2[to reside]-vt. to put up with--Abide by: 1 to live up to (a promise etc.) 2 to submit to and carry out. I think the 'abide by' (1) fits the definition refered to in the title. The thing is thought, who is going to die? This being the SOD(tm) and all. Somebody may keep a promise that causes their demise. -T-John as a sacrifice to save the others? -Harvey because he was never really real anyways? -Furlow because she holds the most wormhole knowledge in her head as well as building an exact copy of the Farscape 1 including a phase stabilizer? -*Jack* 'cause he's only an alien so we won't really miss him that much? -Lots of Scarrans aboard the dreadnought? That'll work. -Hosts of dead Charrids piled up like cordwood? Interesting image that. Stay tuned as this weeks ep. starts in 1 min. ZimNova
Posted By: Azziz Aug 03, 2001 - 08:42 pm | | LOL, all of the above Zim? I'm still watching ep, but I think T-John is a goner. Aeryn: Do you know how to get home? John: Yeah. Aeryn: Good, let's do this and we'll leave. (or something like that) Can you say kiss of death?
Posted By: Bmat Aug 04, 2001 - 04:02 am | | Stark is growing on me. I kind of look forward to his fast-paced quirkiness now. The Scarran was nicely done. Was it CGI?
Posted By: fanuilh Aug 04, 2001 - 07:00 am | | Azziz, when I heard that exchange between Aeryn and John I thought exactly what you did.... "Uh oh...." Well, T-John is gone. M-John is still alive. Was he the original or the Xerox? We may never know. It looks like the bleeding he was doing in No Time may have had more to do with his species than a breakdown in the material, so to speak. How is Aeryn going to react towards him when the crew gets together again? I thought the bell-tolling in the music at the end when T-John dies was nicely done. And did Claudia Black do an excellent job of portraying heart-rending grief, or what? Whew.... My favorite line (it was close, there were several good ones): Crais has issued the Scarran Dreadnought an ultimatum. Stark stands behind him, looking serious, and intones, "They must be terrified." I howled.
Posted By: Crowe Aug 04, 2001 - 07:08 am | | Great EP of course. See, I told you they would through us a curve ball. We were all right about bits of it, and totally wrong about lots of it I have to admit, I like stark. (GASP!) He's changed a great deal. I liked him when he was just a prisoner. Then he stayed on and caused too much trouble and I didn't like him. But I think he's really come along way. Last ep and this one especially. He's had some great lines too. And Crais, I believed him. He truly seemed genuine. I think he was moved by John's efforts. When John told him to starburst away, and then Crais said "It is unaniumus(sp), we are staying" I was like, whoah, Crais, no way. It seems to me that Crais has really become part of the fam. I never thought that would happen, and sure he's a bit of a black sheep, but still. Another one of my favorite lines from this ep is when Crais was threatening the Scarran Dreadnaught and then Stark says something like "I think their scared now" . Also, later when the dreadnaught is destroyed he says "I don't have a prayer for that". And the way he dealt with the Scarran aboard Talyn. Very well done. Rigel also had some great moments and character growth. I've always liked Rigel. He always comes through in a pinch. And you can tell he's always realy cared. But he's a male, and he's a Dominar. He's probably not used to showing his feelings or doing things for others. I really like his scene with John at the end of this ep when John told him "You can't have my stuff" and they both laughed. Very good use of an inside joke. Everyone knows Rigel will take peoples things, but John and Rigel have had that arguement a few times. More than the others. I'm still reeling from what happened in this ep. I don't know what to think about how all this will effect the show. I know one thing, it sure will be interesting. I'm very eager to see the next few eps. --Crowe
Did I not call it when I predicted T-John would not make it once he an Aeryn were an item? Sometimes I hate it when I'm right! All respects to Browder, but Claudia's outstanding performance was what made the death scene for me. I cried just looking at the anguish on Aeryn's face. Very heart wrenching . The Road Warrior chase was fun, but too short. I would have liked to have seen a little more challenge and firefight in it. I did like the subtle touch with Aeryn's character. "Be smart...run away". Such a small thing, but a nice insight into how much she's grown and changed. PK Aeryn would have blasted the guy while he was down. Stark...well, he has his moments. If they would stick with this eps "version" of Stark, he would remain a welcome crew member. I'll have to wait and see where they go with him in future eps. The "I don't have a prayer for that" line was truly great, and a fitting comment for the awesome destruction sequence. I'm wondering if John passed something important to Stark during that moment on the death bed. There was a flicker on Stark's face that seemed to imply something special happened. Could Stark now hold the key to M-John unlocking the secret to wormholes? My favorite exchange this ep was on the dune buggy: J: "How is it we have the only gun on the planet that doesn't work?" A: "It's your fault...you know if I was here by myself it would work" So now M-John is the only one. I agree the whole bleeding thing has fallen away to be meaningless at this point. How Aeryn relates to a John that does love her, but who was not been part of the intimate relationship will be interesting. Can she love him the same? We have some great drama to look forward to there! My only gripe was the killing of the Scarran (Bmat, the Scarrans are some kind of muppet creation). Crais says they can't have Tayln shoot him because it won't work, then they go ahead and have Talyn shoot him. What was the point of the neural interface? Am I supposed to believe it instantly transformed the Scarran's physiology so they could blast it to death? I was expecting Tayln to fry the Scarran's mind or something equally insidious. I feel kinda cheated. Oh...and "I haven't reached my limit yet" either!
Posted By: Crowe Aug 04, 2001 - 05:11 pm | | Master, As to the Scaran, I think it's a live actor + animatronics probably. Also, remember the implant crais has? Talyn has as much control of Crais as Crais does of Talyn. Or more so. I figure what happend was they used the implant to hold the Scarran still while they blasted him to bits. The problem would have been if the Scarran was attacked while mobile, he would have just moved and destroyed Stark and Crais, or the weapons. They are heavily armored and it would take quite a few blasts, which he did get. I can't imagine many creatures taking as many shots as he did. I stand by the point of the implant was to paralize him so they could shoot him. Good plan This 2 part arc was awesome. Very good ending to T-John. Crowe
Posted By: Bmat Aug 04, 2001 - 05:32 pm | | The reason I wondered about the Scarran was that when he moved his head upward it seemed more CGI than muppet. Perhaps CGI enhanced anyway? Thank, Crowe. It does make sense that the Scarran was being immobilized- I didn't think of that.
Posted By: Azziz Aug 04, 2001 - 08:29 pm | | Too many great lines this ep, the the one in the buggy and Stark's "Oh, I bet they're scared now" or whatever were the two best. Regarding Aeryn and John M. I think this will be fascinating. Think about it. Before Aeryn met John she was a PK who basically had no heart. With the origional John and more recently John T. she learned to love. For someone who has buried thier emotions as a rule, learning to love and going thru this incredible heartbreak is a stunning blow. Hell, to a normal caring person it is quite a blow. But in this case more so. And poor John M who has been sort of pining away for Aeryn is going to reunite and not know what hit him. I expect that Aeryn will completely, totally and utterly shut down her feelings for John. "You're not John!" And even thou he'll be told, he won't be able to comprend the depth of her behavior towards him. I'm interested to see how Rygel and Crais behave towards him as well. Oddly, I think Stark will be the most accepting of John M. In many ways he is the most enlightened and introspective of this crew. Aside from the funny lines. ;o) Anyways, that's my two cents. Kick ass ep. Probably my favorite so far.
Posted By: ZimNova Aug 04, 2001 - 09:12 pm | | First rate FarScape. A small nitpick. I can understand John seeing the neuro-clone in his own mind as looking like Scorpius, however, how is it that Aeryn & Jack see Scorpy-John? note: Aeryn carries 2 pluse pistols. T-John did appear so relived to be rid of the clone. Now how to deal with the M-John clone? Will anything we saw in this ep. help free him? Master, I'd bet currancy that those surface vehicles were dug out of a warehouse from the production company that did the *Road Warrior* films. I too thought the Scarran looked better than Cargn from the *LatP* trilogy. More detail, but we should expect that as the Scarrans play a bigger role in the story arc at this point. (more currancy to play with making make-up effects.) Stark played the Bannock slave routine to perfection, he can think on his feet while running so I have to give the writers credit for adding more depth to his character as well as the best one-liner in this ep. "They must be terrified". Thanks Fanuilh. He makes a fine *Suck-Hole*, LOL. Rygel too showed more character, willing to carry on for only some food, not at all like the self serving little slug we've seen in the past. Furlow turns out to be a profit drivin' scum suckin' bucket of dren whose moral values equal, what?, nothing. Oh, the wormhole weapon uses a star to work! T-John buys the farm. We thus go back to square one in the J/A relationship. Claudia does great work in her sorrow over T-John. Many questions remain for the future of the show. How will the M-John/Aeryn relationship work out? How pissed off are the Scarrans? Will we see the crew's of both Talyn & Moya together again soon? (I for one sure as hell hope so.) An interesting point is, all the knowledge T-John had about wormholes and wormhole weapons, from *Jack* & Furlow has now been lost forever with his death. Back to square one again with this thread in the arc. ZimNova
