Really liked dead John talking to John at the end. Wonder what Aeryn will think of what she overheard? Heroic quest about to begin. I wonder if Crais will get offed going after Scorpy?
Posted By: Sindatur Aug 27, 2001 - 10:37 am | | Well, I never know the titles, so I was waiting for someone else to start the topic. Another one I watched out of the corner of my eye. I assume that somehow another Peacekeeper prison ship was captured by the Moya crew and that's where the Scarran(?) and the female Hynerion and the other one of Chianna's people came from. Completely mystified as to what the being was that they were reconstructing, but it looked seriously gross. Did catch John welcoming the Talyn crew back aboard Moya. Was surprised how friendly a greeting Moya-John gave to Crais. Ripped my heart apart to see John grinning there, looking like he was expecting a hug from Aeryn, and all he got was a "Oh, Hi" and then she was on her way. I, too, liked Talyn-John advising Moya-John and wonder how Aeryn will react to what she heard. Sorry I don't have more input, wish I had seen it closer.
Posted By: Crowe Aug 27, 2001 - 10:44 am | | Hrm. This one I've been thinking about quite a bit. I really liked this ep. I liked it a great deal in fact. Love D'Argo and his new ship. Loved Chianna's new gift playing a role. Loved how Ayren and John were together. It made sense. The two bits at the ending. Where Ayren heard John's message to himself, and then when she sided with him. It was very much like she was saying... "Yes, just give me some time" .. Very well done. I do think scorpy is indeed in for some trouble from this crew. I'm very suprised that D'Argo didn't take up arms with John. We'll see though. It would be fairly interesting to see John, Aryen and Crais take Talyn to go after Scorpy for a few eps, giving them some alone time, but I don't think that's gonna happen. I think the current John will be able to use the clone to get info on what scorpy will do. The only real thing I didn't like about this ep was the fact that a PK Tech got Crais pinned down. Captain Bialar Crais would have had extensive fire arms training and then some. True the tech could have been a special agent, but still. Crais would have nailed him. --Crowe
Posted By: MerleZ Aug 27, 2001 - 11:00 am | | Crais was up to his elbows in alien goo, so I think he can be forgiven for letting the PK Tech get the drop on him. Jool reverted to form, though, didn't she? Screaming like a banshee. Sindatur, the critter that Jool and Crais were playing around with is a Boolite. Boolites body parts apparently can survive independently, even after having been blown to bits. So Jool and Crais were reconstructing the Boolite trying to determine what had happened to it. Upon hooking up the mouth, it said "traitor" tipping them off that one of the three captives was a traitor. About that time, someone shot the Scarran, leaving the Nebari and the Hynerian as the only suspects. So Rygel's babe was the bad girl. One minor nit pick. You need more than a mask to survive in the vacuum of space. And the Hynerian female's screams definitely would be silent as she spun away, eyes freezing solid as her blood boiled. Just a nit pick. And of course, Sparky woulda been toast when the hatch opened and he didn't have an atmosphere suit.
Posted By: Crowe Aug 27, 2001 - 11:09 am | | Well, D'Argo can survive space with no suit, maybe Hynerians can too, briefly perhaps? Still though, the scream. But I'll chock it up to TV thought it was a tad over the line of hoping for our "suspension of belief" .. Crowe
Posted By: MerleZ Aug 27, 2001 - 11:34 am | | Well, good theory though doubtfull. Aren't Hynerions aquatic? I'd think they'd be even more susceptible to vacuum as a result.
Posted By: Iznardi Aug 27, 2001 - 12:57 pm | | Once again, I guess, I am odd man out. This episode had many of the elements I am really beginning to dislike in Farscape. Too many pointless shouting matches. Another pointless hunt for people sabotaging the ship (why didn't they just shove the whole bunch of them back into the shuttlecraft? Do they have to play welcome wagon to every single denizen of the Uncharted Territories who happens by?) I also think that, after all the trouble they've gone to, making the puppets look realistic, that throwing in a spare Rygel puppet in a red dress--was really cheesy. Scarrans don't all look alike. Nebari don't all look alike. So why should another Hynerian, let alone a female one, be the spitting image of Rygel? Answer: they were too cheap to make a different puppet. Sooooo, the next time they need an extra Peace-Keeper tech, why not just dye Claudia Black's hair and use her? Same principle. That whole Hynerian part of the episode had the Muppet Show and "Miss Piggy" written all over it, which was really unfortunate. Hei-ya! The only really great 5 minutes of the whole hour was when Crichton resolved to hunt down Scorpius, against all the odds, and Aeryn and Crais, without saying a word, walked across to stand by him. Now that was great. And it was also a little symbolic--Crichton and the two renegade P.K.s just decided that they have a mission. And none of the others really want to be part of it. Anyway, I'm afraid I made the same cranky complaints about B5 when they left the main story and started writing too many B plots. I love digressions when they are really clever foretastes of some future story line, that doesn't become apparent until later. But the last two episodes seem to be just digressions for the sake of having some stand-alone stories. And I just didn't think either story-line was all that great. iz
Posted By: Crowe Aug 27, 2001 - 01:34 pm | | iz, Your right that this was mostly a digression. But it must be done in order to build suspense, cut costs for bigger episodes and arcs. And as a viewer, some of the eps have been too intense. I needed a break. Thought if given the choice I would just plow through the main plot, I can still accept these slices as a welcome respit from the normal pace of the show. I can't wait till we get back to the meat and potatoes though! There were some really bad parts of this episode and the last few too, but the end, the scene when Talyn came back and a few others really elevated this episode out of the gooey Boolite everything else was tromping in. The story was week, but it made the scenes with certain characters even stronger. For the most part, I'll take the bad with the good, as long as it stays mostly good - Crowe
Sin-they took aboard a pod that they thought was carrying Aeryn et al because they were supposed to rendezvous with the others. They thought something happened to Tayln and were freaked out that it was pod, and that they couldn't contact the pod. At least they had enough sense to show them greet it with guns drawn (so they didn't look totally gullible). Rygels quick attachment because he was getting sex was understandable (selfish little slug), Chiana sticking up for another "outcast" I can see, but D'Argo defending a Scarran? That was a stretch. "I'm very surprised that D'Argo didn't take up arms with John" Yeah, that didn't seem right. Maybe he will go with after all...have to wait and see. I'm actually not too keen on another separation. They just got the groups back together, and are breaking them apart again in the same show? I thought they were rather clumsy about working Chiana's "gift" into this ep. It seemed too forced or something. I mean its nice they are developing that angle, but it needs to be smoothly done. Jool--heh, well, I sure don't expect bravery out of her, but she's definitely got smarts. I thought her and Crais had a pretty funny scene putting the Boolite together. I also liked the "why are you wearing an eyepatch" thing at the end: "I got Boolite in my eye"
Posted By: ZimNova Aug 27, 2001 - 05:47 pm | | Well there's good news & bad news. The bad news first. I have it from a fairly reliable source that we will not be getting the final four episodes of season 3 until Jan. 11th 2002! That's a frelling bummer. The good news is those 4 should be a kick hazma mini-arc to end this season and maybe wrap up the Scorpius story line. I thought Fractures was pretty good myself. There was a lot of stuff going on in this one outside of the main story lines. Aeryn has at first withdrawn but may come around. The scene near the end when Aeryn mentions the Boodog and John doesn't have a clue accents the differences between the two of them in Aeryn's eyes. However as Kaarvok stated; "both equal and original". The John on Moya is John, John Crichton. He gave himself some good advice there at the end, re: Aeryn. I hope the writers keep them at a distance for awhile now that all the shippers have been satisfied after T-John and Aeryn 'made it'. I believe the tension between them is better if we are kept guessing. D'argo and Crichton are more like brothers than ever and I too was surprized that D'argo did not join the crusade to rid the UT's of Scorpy. But then, who will come to the rescue if they encounter more than they can handle at the secret gammak base? Small observations. Continuity glichs. D'argo does not keep a close watch on the Scarran. Naj Gil is left alone during both D'argo & John's little heart to heart and later when he gets shot. Also Ka D walks right past the cargo box Chi & Hubero were hiding in. What, he couldn't smell them? btw, as Iz saw, we see that there must be at least 2 different races of Scarrans. I don't know if it means anything but all the cartoon characters mentioned by John while trying to break the ice with Aeryn were Disney? All of those in RA were WB. Equal time? Meoooow, was Hubero another Nebari fox or what? And a androgen too! Fit right in on both sides of the fence, LOL. Too bad she had to buy it. Alas, this is the SOD(tm) after all. The first scene with Jool & Crais with the Boolite in the med-lab was a hoot. I always love when the show makes me laugh. I agree, the muppet love scenes were vary poorly done, total waste of time imho. I'm glad they spaced Orrhn. Seems selling out to save one's skin is a common Hynerian trait. Now we have an "A" team. Talyn, Aeryn, Crais & John off to kick ass and take names. ZimNova
