I was watching the one where Kirk & the crew are on a planet where Earth's ancient Rome is the model. Totally bogus as the planet in question is light years away from the Federation and the guards are using the SIG Maschinenpistole 310 (German MP310), lots of flash, no brass, sub-gun C.1950. What a laugh. The thing that made me laugh even louder was a threat from a guard during one of the gladiator scenes; "If you cause our ratings during this fight to go down Flavius, we will make a special out of you". Shades of the later *Max Headroom*, where ratings are everthing, LOL. ZimNova

(although aired as ep. #3 during S-1, what were we to think of the different uniforms & sets at the time? ) and it shows. The crew was way different, with turtle neck uniforms, different sets & doctor. Scotty was there but Sulu was an extra. The story was really good, as was the *guest cast* including *Gary Lockwood* & *Sally Kellerman*. After this the cast found the *formula* we are all used too during the OS. This was a *one of a kind* episode in the history of the show!

Posted By: ZimNova Oct 30, 2001 - 09:13 am | | Actuality Nomad no. This episode only had Kirk, Spock, Scotty and Sulu (cast as an extra). The uniforms were different as were the sets which looked more futuristic than those used in the rest of the series. The bridge crew were all different too, no Uhura or Chekov and the doctor was played by an actor whom I seemed to recognize from an earlier TV western series? (no help from the official ST site as he's not listed in the credits). Spock was really funny as for some reason he would shout out his lines while on the bridge like he was on a noisy submarine or something. ZimNova
