Shanks: Stargate Changes Due Michael Shanks—who returns as Dr. Daniel Jackson in the upcoming seventh season of the SCI FI Channel original series Stargate SG-1—told SCI FI Wire that the sixth-season finale's climactic events set the stage for major changes. "They seemed to kill a lot of characters, end a lot of races and eliminate a lot of our potential allies, so everything would be in place for a big, climactic two-hour movie," Shanks said in an interview. "Then, when they realized we were going [for a seventh season], they said, 'Oh boy, we killed everyone. We eliminated all our threats, and now we have to start all over again.'" read more here: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main.html?2003-05/15/12.00.sfc

Posted By: Sindatur May 11, 2004 - 11:07 am | | From ScifiWire: Stargate SG-1 Changes Coming Joseph Malozzi, executive producer of the SCI FI Channel original series Stargate SG-1, told SCI FI Wire that there would be a lot of new developments as the series begins its eighth season. "We're looking at the return of an old villain and sort of a Freddy vs. Jason-type throwdown, a big villain-vs.-villain conflict on a cosmic scale," Malozzi said in an interview. He added: "There will be a big change for a main character, O'Neill [Richard Dean Anderson]." Malozzi, who was recently in Los Angeles to collect SG-1's Saturn Award for best syndicated/cable television series, said that the end of the seventh season saw a few character upheavals as well. "One of our established characters [left] the show at the end of season seven," he said. Malozzi declined to indicate who would be leaving, but, he added, "There will be lots of changes for all of our characters." Malozzi also said that the series was in no danger of running out of ideas. "It all hearkens back to the fourth season on the show, when we were looking ahead at season five and saying, 'We're all out of ideas. I don't know how we're going to come up with ideas for season five,'" Malozzi said. "Amazingly, the longer the series goes on, the easier it is to come up with ideas, because you've got the backstories. You've got past episodes you can draw off of for future episodes. The longer we go, the more stories we have. I'm looking ahead to seasons 12 and 13." Stargate SG-1 airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Season eight commences July 9. The SCI FI Channel spinoff series Stargate: Atlantis premieres July 16.

Posted By: Qray Jul 10, 2004 - 08:34 am | | Hello all, I'm new here. I've been watching SG-1 since the first season, and consider it one of my favorite Science Fiction shows currently on television. A good ep. I agree with you about Teal'c's hair, Tandara. I was actually waiting for someone to comment on it (like the team did with Teal'c's Van Dyke a few seasons back,) and was surprised that no one did (until Jack of course ;-]) In a phone call interview with Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune, Christopher Judge laughed and said (about the hair) "It was the culmination of seven seasons of begging." So apparently, he's been wanting to grow it back for a while. I'm curious about the System Lord Camulus who seeked asylum on Earth. When the System Lord Delegation were about to leave Earth (the first time,) he gave a smile that no one else could see as he was about to step through the Stargate. At first, I thought this was because he knew the System Lords were sending a ship to attack Earth and it was a sort of "Ha Ha chumps!" kind of smile. However, with his later revelation that his power is minimal after the constant System Lord in-fighting, he seeks asylum. So what was the smile for? Was he expecting to somehow gain the lion's share of the "loot" should the Goa'uld ship have succeeded in attacking Earth? And in the process, rebuild his power base? For that matter, I'm wondering how truthfull Camulus was in telling his tale of woe. It would seem very "Goa'uld-like" to have a System Lord (or other Goa'uld) defect in order to learn what they can about Earth's new Ancient weapon, then somehow escape. (Q)
Posted By: Tandara Jul 10, 2004 - 12:11 pm | | I thought the episode was pretty good. I love Thor so any episodes with him is a plus Your right Q, it would be "Goa'uld-like" for him to be a plant of the System Lords, or perhaps Baal (sp?). It would be a nice change though, to find a Goa'uld who actually does defect for honorable reasons! I thought I read somewhere that Jolinar was a Goa'uld who became a Tok'ra.
Posted By: Nomad Jul 12, 2004 - 03:55 pm | | I hadn't really thought of tht twist. I thought he really was just a goa'uld being the wimp.
Posted By: Nomad Jul 12, 2004 - 06:29 pm | | FYI, I had a Stargrate:Atlantis forum created under "Television" where we can create subtopics based on each episode.
If the newbie can speculate... It's possible that Camulus is a plant. The people of Earth have proven to be unexpectedly troublesome. Somehow, though, I don't think he'd be working for Baal if he is. Another valid option is that he's scared, although it should also be remembered that he is a 'god of war'. That body he's wearing could very well have been some general or officer in his armies that he was particularly fond of. What is his way of thinking? Does he feel that it's better to live to fight another day if you can manage it? The Tau'ri are resourceful and have beaten the odds time and time again. He could just realize that they're likely to face Baal anyway and that it might give him the chance to have a shot at revenge. Unfortunately, blurbs about next weeks ep. indicate that Baal is going to get his hands on SG1 and demand an 'unorthodox prisoner exchange'. As much fun as having their own personal System Lord could be, it looks like they may not get to keep their new toy very long.
Greetings SG1 (Christopher Judge), Christopher I like the hair much better. To the jackass that asked if you were African- American being stupit is okay when you don't speak. Please tell me I did not see you smoking on Monday on Behind the scence with Stargate. Well! please don"t take this in the wrong matter if you have the need to put your sweet lips on something here are my lips (smile).
