I'm looking to branch out some of my science fiction reading. What would you say are the best science fiction books/authors of yesterday? WHat about today? Who appears to be the next up and coming Michael Chrichton or Frank Herbert?

Well for me, as far as scifi authors go, it would be...

Dan Simmons at the number one spot.
Alastair Reynolds at number 2
Iian M Banks at number 3
Peter F Hamilton at number 4
John Meany at number 5
William Gibson at number 6
Neal Asher at number 7
Ken Mcleod at number 8
Neal Stephenson at number 9
Kevin J Anderson at number 10

:)

Hyperion The Despised
