BTW: sorry, I didn't really mean to derail this topic. The subject was being nice and we are degrading into conflict. I guess it's kind of hard to imagine what the world would be like if everyone was nice.
It's hard to imagine what we've never seen...
lol - please continue Aldan. I have all sorts of stuff I'd like to say, but no time at the moment.
I just want to ask if we should then just allow the terrorists to continue to kill people here w/o any retaliation or w/o trying to find and stop those who're DOING it?
My quick opinion. The U.S. needs to stop interfering in other countries business...YES. However,I believe, in some instances, that the US interfered for peaceful purposes. To stop evil empires/dictators from taking advantage of people who cant do anything about it. Hell, look at all the "ebels" out ther who are fighting their regimes. Most have a good reason. For all I know, we have helped them. Thats not to say that the US has not been putting theior own interests up front and put up with a bad leader just so we will prosper. NO, not saying its perfect. However, that is why we have an election every 4 years./// so we do not have our own dictator ofsorts. This is a free nation that LOVES freedom and under it all, IMHO, the rest of the worl loves what we have also. Hell, we've only been around about 225 years. LLord knows what time will tell.
The title to this thread is "What if everyone was nice?"
"Destruction by EITHER SIDE is bad. However, while if the terrorists stopped their terror campaigns completely, the US'd probably stop going after them (IF they gave up Bin Laden, that is...), if WE stopped fighting with THEM, would the reverse be true?? No firetrucking way"
If everyone were nice then there would be an ever-annoying jockeying of who is nicer than whom and then this would normalize into who was nice and not nice based on this new metric.
Interesting point! Degrees of nice-ness being the new basis of comparison. I like it!
A war of niceties, that's a novel thought. I'll see your cookies and raise you a cupcake. Oh, not the pillow to the face again, darn you.
Hands up! Give me your money or I'll tickle you.
Here, take my wife too...and my car.
Thanks, and may I give you a lift someplace?
Your money or your wife.
Oh no! Nicer than thou ,supremists. Woe to the least nice.Let them be hugged.....
Wouldn't the nicest person be like, "No, my friend, you are the nicest." So the competition would be to give the most complements, hence claiming not-niceness thus being the nicest. I think we have just created a paradox.
Nope. A paradox is two physicians.
In a world where everyone was nice, puns would become a form of torture. Much like in this world, actually.
what would that make aldan then
How could a retalliation to the US attacks on IRAQ be considered terrorist activity, if this IS supposed to be a WAR on terror.... In a war, isn't there more than one side to the story?
