Posted By: Alcar Dec 24, 2002 - 08:20 am | | This is a poem I wrote a while back after finding the first two lines in a notebook of mine. Places (Feb 2002) There are places made from dreaming Where shadows cannot, yet must dwell: Where maidens sing their lonely songs And honour a knights word compels. These are places noble seeming, Where kings and princes lead their lives And heroes march to slay old wrongs Heedless of what their foes contrive. In these noble causes we see Heroes doing glorious deeds And great wizard speaking magic. Yet there are things we never heed: The life of peasants without glee, The innocents crushed by cruel laws, Rain spells flooding lands with magic, People made homeless without cause. In the tales of warriors slaying We never hear of lordly wrongs, The peasants slain we never see, For they would remove the magic. We cannot bear to lose that spell So we ignore their little lives -- They won't be in the tales we read: We ignore what we never saw. - Alcar, alternity1@yahoo.com
