The Gate is ahead
The Gate is ahead
Onward my lads the Gate is ahead
Great is its shadow
Terrible its store
That blackened port be •••••• to Hell
Guarded by demons, foul and foreboding
Guarded by men, as proud as they’re tall
Guarded by me, the blackened shadow
This is my gate
The gate to my soul

Again, the edit is the past tense of the building a beaver makes ;) This isnt that great of a poem. It's just something I put together just now to put off doing homework. I gotta do that now. Bye.

I know this poem isn't nearly as good as my other ones but somebody must have some kind of opinion on it? All critisizm is open.

It shows urgency. The last sentence comes as a surprise.

I like your poems.

Thanks. I'm thinking on, when I get enough poems, make a book of poems and get it published.

How many poems d ou think I would need for a book? I was thinking one poem per page. Going on that I figure I'd need between 200 and 300. Is that too much you think, or is it a good estimate?

It might be a good idea to post the question in the Discussion Forum.

I've seen books of poetry with far fewer than a hundred poems. I've seen poetry books where the poems had a common theme. But I can't answer your question, because I don't know.
