“I’ll take your word on that,” Todd joked, causing Verity to roll her eyes at him. “I suppose you’ve gotten that one before huh,” he asked.
“Once or twice, maybe,” she said, and smiled, “so what’s the deal?”
“The book is a book of illusion, the second book. It’s in a hidden level of a Jewish temple, and its currently driving everyone mad,” Todd stated, “Anything else Jon.”
“Just, be very careful with what you see. It’s not always going to be true.” He turned to the portal, “After you Todd.”
Todd nodded and walked through the portal, his hand remaining behind, which shortly gave a thumbs up signal and vanished.
“After you Verity, I’ve got to keep my illusion up.” Jon motioned her to the portal.
She stepped forward to the edge of the portal, “A floating pop-tart, really?” She shook her head and stepped into the portal, and it was just a few seconds before Todd’s hand appeared with another thumbs up.
Jon looked around checking for anyone who might be watching and then stepped through the portal after the other two, dropping his illusion just as Todd closed the portal.
“Welcome to San Fran,” Todd said with a smile. The three stood in an alleyway behind the temple where the book was thought to be hidden.
“I can feel it,” Jon said, “It’s here, it has to be.”
Verity nodded, “But we’re not alone.”
