Day 8.

Goal: 200 words.
Written: 247 words.
Todd groaned and raised a ward just in time to deflect a blast of magic the Verity then redirected at the source. Jon began to weave his hands in an intricate pattern, attempting to penetrate the attackers mind and render him unconscious though forced illusion.
“Out of my head damnit!” echoed a voice from the end of the alleyway just as Jon was thrown back against a wall, landing on his butt at its base and moaning as his back screamed with pain.
Todd stepped forward, slashing with his arm and sending a brute force at the attacker who parried it with a flash of fire and then sent a fireball towards each of the remaining two. Todd drew a hasty symbol in front of himself and absorbed the fireball while Verity caught the flaming ball in a twisting whip of energy and flung it back at the attacker who once again stopped it with a flash of fire.
“I see this is getting us nowhere,” The attacked yelled, stepping out and looking the two over. “Why are you here, this is not your zone.” He was an older man, probably in his late forties.
It was Todd who answered, “We come seeking a book. We know where it is, we just need to retrieve it.”
The man nodded, “the book of illusion huh? Yes, I thought we’d have someone soon.” He shook his head and gathered fire about his hands. “I’m afraid I cannot allow that.”
