Dreams Shatter

One star fades in,
Another twinkles out.
The old life ends
And the new rolls in.

The grass is soft
The night is long.
The wind is light
Here is wher we belong.

They watched us
They talked to us
They loved being around us.

My trust they had,
The time they wanted.
The money they spent
My life they wanted.

One last run I told them,
We all would go.
Our weapons we brandished
Outfits of black we dawned.

They watched us
They studied us
They were ready for us.

The lock was picked.
Our future had started.
Our enemy was hid
The trap was set.

The rain was crimson
The water was thick.
My enemies were strong
Yet my will did not break.

They faught me
They stabbed me
They could not kill me.

The trap was set
I was the prey.
They used you as bait
Their last effort was deadly.

You lay limp
My heart sank.
My memory fuzzy
An explosion had sounded.

They killed you
They betrayed me
Our love had been murdered.

From beneath the rubble I came
The dead back from the grave.
All their fates will match
The plague of death they will catch.

Another step taken
Another bend round.
Another town on the horizon
Another friend down.

I am the poet of the body and I am the poet of the Soul. The pleasures of heaven are with me and the pains of hell are with me. The first I graft and increase upon myself, the latter I translate into a new tongue.

-Walt Whitman-
