Re: A History of Violence

Chapter 2 Night fell as I walked out of the back door of the office. I had my bag of blood dangling from my wrist as I walked to my red Nissan truck. It looks as if I've missed a spectacular sunset. If only I'd gotten the labwork for Buster done sooner I wouldn't be ten minutes late walking out the ...

Re: Hi, I'm shane :P.

Welcome, I hope you like it here. It's pretty nice but it's been really slow since I joined. I noticed you like nissans. I just bought my first (a 2001 frontier crew cab 4x4 Supercharger). And I really like it! My last car wasn't my choice but I drove it for the last 12 years so it wasn't so bad, bu...

Re: Why do some people not like SF?

She and I were having a discussion about the state of horse care when it comes to race horses, how they shouldn't be raced at 3 yrs of age because they haven't reached maturity, how they shouldn't be kept in stalls when not being exercised, etc, etc. That I should write something for her (as a ghost...

Re: Why do some people not like SF?

I blame my dad for my interest in Scifi/fantasy. He was the one who watched Star Trek and Star Wars. But I must say Willow brought me out of totally scifi and into fantasy. Then I got into Mercedes Lackey, Anne McCaffery, and so many more. I don't read much scifi anymore but I don't miss any movies ...

Re: Does anyone have a special gift or power?

I'm a little bit pre-cognitive (see the future). Once in a while I'll get a date stuck in my head and have trouble not writing it down every time I want to write down todays date. But I never remember to go back and look it up. I'll get the notion to watch a movie and 3-5 days later it'll be on TV. ...

Re: A History of Violence

Thanks for the feedback  . That first paragraph is intended to mimic the blurb on the back cover of a book. I was using it to get people motivated to read the first chapter and fill in some of the rest of the story since this is only the first chapter that's posted. Actually, the first chap...

Re: Ultraviolet

I think I have it on vhs. My mom recorded it for me while I was in college several years back. Honestly, I had trouble following the story and therefore was bored. I may go back and watch it again.

Re: Chapter Word Count?

Now-a-days, you can have shorter chapter especially if they are the action packed chapter. Suspense may be longer IMO but you still want them on the edge of their seat but not too much that they skip ahead. Ruminations, I wouldn't get too long or you may bore them to death (sometimes Robert Jordan g...

My thoughts exactly but it's still a fun story. And it's 498 total pages but it's a young adult novel and has a lot of space between the lines.

Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series

I've just started reading twilight and I'm a little over half way through it. I've hard a hard time putting it down. It's been a long time since I've gotten stuck in a book. So far the writings been beautiful but at 277 pages still the only conflict is their romance and what the world around them wo...
