Re: What D&D Character Are You?

True Neutral Elf Ranger Mage Follower Of Silvanus Alignment: True Neutral characters are very rare. They believe that balance is the most important thing, and will not side with any other force. They will do whatever is necessary to preserve that balance, even if it means switching allegiances sudde...

orange

The bantam-celled flesh bursts angrily as my teeth sink in,
A spray of bitter blood dashes, burning through my eye.
With a blink to wash over the orange glaze of liquid skin,
I see a world of pain that's hurriedly passing by and by.

Re: Lord of the Rings

I find the archaic prose to be absolutely fascinating. It's different than much of contemporary fantasy, but very satisfying. Some people keep a copy of the Bible around, no matter what. I keep a copy of LOTR around, no matter what, because of its unparalleled impact on the fantasy genre...

Re: The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson

I began the first book about a month ago, am still working my way through it (like to keep several books going at once), and I'd have to agree with all the pros/cons mentioned already. Having said that, I very much enjoy it so far and intend to keep going with the series (yeah, Goodkind kinda fell o...

Re: RIP David Eddings

He will indeed be missed, one of my all-time favorites. He, more than probably any other fantasy writer, got me indelibly hooked on the genre...

Re: Evil Protagonists Wanted!

I wonder if Ghost Rider would fit the bill? He sold his soul to the devil, after all. And there have been others throughout lit who have done this. Did Dorian Gray?

I luv the Darth Bane reference, my favorite Star Wars books!

Re: At The Gnosvane Gate

I'm not sure, Ariel. It was something I had begun a couple years ago, and must have thought I was going to do something 'fun' w/ it, but as I rummage through old notes and such, I can't track down where it was going :?

Re: Dearthly Hollows -spoilers-

I agree, Dark Knight, I kinda thought it sounded biblical, in fact was pretty sure, but couldn't quite place it. For those unfamiliar w/ the bible they may think it original to the HP books...

At The Gnosvane Gate

Note: This is an excerpt of a novel which I never got around to finishing, Guess I reached a point at which I wasn't sure where to take the story. A common problem with me, another is that I tend to write lighthearted... The gate couldn’t be opened. It just couldn’t. Those were the standing orders....
