Just finished this book. Actually I just finished reading the second. It was OK, but really nothing special. I found it a bit predictable; actually very predictable, with a few exceptions. There are definately better books out there, but it was still an entertaining read.

*Mogget returns to the land of Whence, back into the void. A faint blip is heard as he fully disapparates*

Honest, I'm as confused as you are.
What I meant to say is that I hope you complete it sometime.
Oh! the "sh" must have collided with the "it" I had to change "Finish" to "Complete." How silly.

Really, after Astarael, it isn't scary. Lots of action/running around though.

Yes, the first part is the introduction basically. It introduces what life is like in the Castle, and other things that I will not discuss.

Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with the first one, but it is actually quite enjoyable. The first book, there is only one plot, but by the end three developed plots merge. It's brilliant.

Oh, I've read them for sure.
To be perfectly honest, you must give them another shot. It's the type of series that just keeps getting better and better, until it's impossible to put the books down. The first and second books are sort of the introduction to the other four.

I suppose. I think the first time I read it, I read it so fast, because it just came out and I wanted to read it first that it just didn't scare me. But yes it is very neat that part.
