Sign up for NaNoWriMo!!! (www.nanowrimo.org)
It stands for "National Novel Writing Month", which is a slight misnomer, because its actually very international. I've been thinking of entering for a little while, and this year finally have. The aim is to write a 50k novel in one month (November). It's incredably hard work, but amazingly rewarding, if my previous speed-writing experience is anything to go by.

If your november isn't looking too busy, why not sign up? Theres no one to recriminate you if you don't quite make it... and it's less than 2000 words per day ;)

And even if you don't want to take part, the forum attached is chock-a-block with experts in various subjects, so you can use them for other writing projects, even if you're not writing anything for it ;)

It's actually 1,667 words a day, if you round up the decimal.

Yeah... I had some spare time in math. Can you tell?

Well, I'm not actually participating in it this month as I'm already more than 10,000 words in the midst of my current project I started about two weeks ago. But in November I plan on just adding 50,000 words to my WIP. So to make that goal I simply have to double how much I write each day.

I'm sure just writing an extra 50k to a current project would count ;)

Yes, I know, 1666.6 recurring. I wasn't in geek mode 8)

Magus can't help it. He's constantly in said mode... *grins at Magus*

Oh, would that my November weren't as full, but work for me is such that I haven't the time to do more, even now, than what I need do to live - wash, cook, tidy, and catch up on my email and write a few posts here... and it's barely October....

I AM in the midst of a writing project, but while I've plotted it out with over a hundred pages of plotting, I have yet so write more than a few sample conversations, which give me some idea of the personalities of my characters...

Actually, according to the official "rules" it cannot be a previous project that you just add to. But I don't really care. I'll do this as my part in the matter regardless.

Sod the rules. All you get is a little print-out certificate anyway :smt064

That's more than I expected to get.

The whole point of this is to further one's writing. I really don't think it matters in particular what that writing is. It could be an epic-poem taking place in third century Iraq starring King Arthur for all I care, just so long as it's furthers itself in the month of November I think that the purpose of the month is fulfilled.
