Nightmares

Postby Raesd » Mon Oct 30, 2006 6:16 pm

~This one is a tiny bit darker than my others, and no, it's not just because it's "That time of year" (anticipating the same comments she recieved from others of that nature) Please enjoy, and take it as a holidays poem if you must ^^ ~

Thoughts residing in a place
Where lush golden orchards blend
With the rolling hills of a black cemetery
Rays of light fall upon the crumbling tombs
And a sea of bloody petals spring from
The ground of the dead

And what could come from such somber realms
But the dreams that both excite and damn us
Giving birth to our nightmares
To the fears that keeps us awake in the dark
Hands clutching blankets as frantic eyes
Chase the shadows

So far a dreamcatcher can not follow
Yet so close it comes every night
The horror of what really lurks
Under human conscience
An animal instinct rejected by the waking eye
Lusted after once heavy lids fall

To pursue the white rabbit down the trail
Where thoughts turn to sleep
And sleep to madness
Hand in hand as they claim your soul
A hollow chasm, a rift at your core

And as I lay here
Burning in my fear
What sins await me tonight
In the disguise of my dreams?

Dark indeed, I like it. :D I could picture this one in my head perfectly and enjoyed it. Very well written, keep up the good work.
I am the poet of the body and I am the poet of the Soul. The pleasures of heaven are with me and the pains of hell are with me. The first I graft and increase upon myself, the latter I translate into a new tongue.

Thank you! I love writing dark poems, just because I believe they allow to relay more emotion than others.
