A portion of the Ballad of Regrett

Postby HMart » Tue Jun 04, 2013 3:13 pm

Little waves
Broke the hull

Seven waves
Took her down

Flail the crew
Up and down

Bobbing there
Without a sound

Pale as night
In winter's dark

Somber ride
When torn apart

Silent souls
up and down

Bobbing there
Without a sound

Seven waves

-a portion of the Ballad of Regrett, inspired by the Sea of Regrett. The Sea of Regrett is, as it would stand to reason, a very unforgiving place.

I intend to build a series of short story compilations around my current trilogy (The Consortium Chain). The stories will fill in particular holes in time and add new dimensions to existing characters. This "poem" will become one of the many ballads, poems, and passages of tribal lore, that will be scattered throughout.

Thanks, Ariel. Much appreciated.

I have a number of poems written for a compilation I'm working on, but I can't release anything further as of now. If you'd like to keep close to my material feel free to visit http://www.emprenbazaar.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/HarringtonMartin

This is evocative! I am glad that I read it. The poem can have so many levels. :)

I love this! There is so much imagery in so few lines that I instantly visualized it and felt like I was there. Very effective.

Thank you, sir. I think the simple-yet-effective approach has always suited my material, poetry or otherwise. Because of this, I tend to edit my novels like I'm performing an archaeological dig. Just the bones, please ;)

Edit: Oh, wow. I didn't see both responses. Much thanks, gents.
