My Chemical Mountain

Corina Vacco

My Chemical Mountain is a bleak story told from the point of view of a teenage boy, Jason, who is angry at a chemical plant that is poisoning his town and the environment around the town. Chemicals from the plant killed his father, and one of his best friends is ill from the pollution. Jason and his friends struggle against not only the plant but also the seeming indifference of the town people who have most of their employment at the plant.

The novel is listed as age 14 and up, which is probably about right. There is some adult language. The book may appeal more to boys than girls because of the dark tone.

The boys are sympathetic characters, and their surroundings are depressing. The story is chilling. The harm that can be done to a town, and thus to our planet, is well described. I recommend this book.

My Chemical Mountain was given to me for an honest review, and I received no compensation.
