The Kill Order is the prequel to Dashner’s The Maze Runner. I enjoyed The Maze Runner greatly, and I anticipated enjoying The Kill Order also.

The Kill Order is very dark, very bleak. It is a well-written read if you enjoy post-apocalyptic stories that leave one un-encouraged about the future.

I would recommend that you not read The Kill Order first, it has spoilers that would seriously lessen enjoyment of The Maze Runner.

On the other hand. If you enjoyed The Maze Runner and the sequels, then The Kill Order will answer questions about what led to the Maze.
