Aldan--A very intelligent response regarding the decline of fantasy/romantic poetry. Tolerance of fancy was waning even Tennyson's time. He was criticized for his earlier poems with themes of heros and ladies. So much so he abandoned those subjects.

Neurolanis, probably early John Donne. (Later he became religious and channelled his passion in that direction. Such a shame.) Robert Herrick is another of the time who liked to wax poetic on ladies, esp. in stages of undress.

Neurolanis, might that be me?

I don't know why, but I've never been big on Fantasy Poetry. I just never liked it nearly as much as their prose counterparts. Then again, I have doubtless not found one of extravagant mettle, Aldan aside.
