The Hadron Collider

The Hadron Collider. Some herald it as the greatest work of science yet to date, others say it will create a black hole and destroy the earth. It starts up today. What are your thoughts?

Well it does start up today, but since they will not crash the particles into one another until next month, the world will not end until next month...

A month to PARTY! :D

I don't think it will destory the earth, even if something when wrong..

I don't believe in the Big bang, so they are not recreated that...

Besides it states in the good book {Bible}, that the Earth is destroyed by Fire not a black hole...

And I believe that it will be..

Which I do believe will be soon, but not as soon as next month...

What!?!?!? Next month? Aw man, I stayed up all night figuring the world was going to end. This sucks, tomorrow is going to be a long day at work.
I'm going to die the way I've lived...poor, screaming, and naked.

There isn't.

There's a less than 1% chance the collision might trigger a miniature unstable black pinhole that, being unstable, will vanish in mere nanoseconds. The earth will not be eaten by a black hole any time soon, I'm afraid.

Well, that's their guess anyway.

Of course, the whole point is that they don't know exactly what might happen. That's why they want to do it, right?
