Maybe you know, or maybe you don't know, but there was another secret mission at the end of Brood War, except this one was only released with the N64 version. If you don't have the N64 version, then you could also find out the basis of this secret mission by playing the deceptions map. esscentially, Vice Admiral Alexi Stukov, whom we all remember was shot and killed by Duran just before he disappeared and tried to destory the Psi Disrupter single handedly, is still alive. He was brought back to life as an infested Zerg, but due to some good moves on the part of Artanis and Rayner, he was cured of this disease and is a free man once more.

So, let's recap all we know about what happened at the end of the Brood Wars:

-Admiral DeGualle sent a letter to his wife before he committed suicide, so the fleet was in contact with the earth
-The UED Expeditionary Force was destroyed completely by the zerg as it retreated from the battle above Char
-Kerrigan is now the undisputed ruler of the Zerg and the most powerful entity in the K-sector
-Mensk is still alive and kicking. He has returned to Korhal to lick his wounds and rebuild the Dominion, which lay in ruins after the UED conquest
-Both Duke and Fenix are dead
-Stukov is alive and travelling with Artanis and Rayner, although they may end up parting ways
-The Protoss possess a way to free people from Zerg infestation, or at least Terrans
-Duran is not under the control of the Zerg, nor any terran agency... nor is he human. He refered to Zeratul as 'young' and said he worked for 'a higher power'. What he is and who he works for remains a mystery
-The Hybrids are complete and will soon awaken. There are too many and they are too well hidden to find and destroy. Zeratul was lucky to find those on the dark moon
-Zeratul, very disturbed by what he saw and heard on the dark moon, has disappeared
-Some Terran agencies are using zerg DNA to experiment with reincarnation. Also, they are attempting to create Human-Zerg hybrids where the human part is in control, not the other way around as is the case with every other infested terran
-Kerrigan senses that something is amiss. Something is out of place. Like something is lurking, just over the horizon (parting words from the epilogue)

Now we have Starcraft: Ghost to consider as well. What do we know about this story? Well, there is a couple of points worth bringing up:

-Mensk is secure in control of at least some form of military forces
-There is a new General in command of the Dominion troops
-The new General is working with an experiment to turn the Dominion Ghost Agents into some sort of 'mist'. Like a ghost, I believe (no pun intended)

And let's not forget the findings of the Overmind itself just before it launched the swarms upon the K-Sector: Humanity back then was only mere generations from becoming a powerful psionic race. A lot of time has passed since that assessment was made.

Where does that leave us for Starcraft 2? I'm not exactly sure. Anyone want to make some predictions?
