Are there any robots in Star Trek?

Postby Bmat » Wed Apr 24, 2013 7:37 pm

My husband has Robbie, Gort, and R2D2 (all about 3 inches tall.) He'd like to have some robot, android, cyborg, from Trek also. (Not Data)

I can't think of anything other than Vger (sp?). I told him to put a rock on the shelf and call it a Horta, but he said that wasn't a robot, but a being.

Well, with his anti-Data prejudice, this might not be the best idea, but what about Lai ... Data's "daughter"?
Or for that matter, Data's Evil Twin: Lore?

Thanks, Asp. He says nothing that looks like an actor. So this rules out the androids in the Mudd episodes as well as Data's child and evil twin. He won't get a fuzz ball and call it a tribble- he says they are living beings also.

Well, how about finding him a small pile of used chewing gum and tell him it's Odo? :D

And then, there were the Nanites .... but I don't know how you'll get a reasonable representation of static electricty ....

And there were the Exocomps in a ST:TNG episode, which seem to be about the only "true" robots in Trek.
But, frankly, I don't even remember the episode that well, and I betcha there isn't an Exocomp action figure anywhere out there.

Yes, that is another difficulty. The availability of figures. He is willing to get robots from another series or movie. We couldn't think of any in B5. In Blakes 7 it was a box. Japanese films had monsters. Several other films used Robbie. There was Tweekie in Buck Rogers, but he doesn't like that. There were the three cute waddling robots in some space movie- but it was sad, they ended up on their own caring for the craft- or something. I think he has the classics- Robbie, Gort, and R2, there are more in Star Wars but he already has R2. I suggested the Twonkie- but no figure of that. There was the robot hand in... Twilight Zone? but no model of that.

I'm willing to bet that those 3 little waddling robots were from "Silent Running" ... the Earth-orbiting eco-preserve that was being abandoned.
How about the little flying robots from "Batteries Not Included"? Those were pretty cute, and might even be available online somewhere.
I assume he is above "Transformers" but if not, there's a whole universe of metal something-or-others there.
And along that line, there is the car in "Knight Rider", the Cylons from "Battlestar Galactica" and he absolutely MUST get a model of Bender from "Futurama"!

... that's just a few off the top of my head.

Oh yes, Bender! He would fit in with the others.

Silent Running sounds right.:) I suggested transformers but he shrugged. I'll mention the flying bots. Thanks!
