The ref in the USA v Italy game had also been suspended right before the previous world cup and had not been able to ref on account of him not being consistant. I hope they dont let him ref anymore...

Mr. B, of course the World Cup isn't (is) about politics! It's about national pride for all these nice countries out there who hate the US (or Big Brother, as some places are calling us [thanks George Orwell!]). What? Nobody out there hates the USA?? *scratches head* Um, right.
ANY sporting event is refereed or umpired or judged by human beings. Those humans are from places. Those places are called nations. However much the people who judge these things might try not to, their own PERSONAL opinions WILL get into their judgements. I mean, look at the Olympics! That event, too, is about sport. *snickers behind hand* *mmm... chocolate/caramel/nougat/peanutty goodness!*

I'm sure the USA does have its hater's and Im sure there are people who feel exactly the opposite, but what we are talking about here is the World Cup, possibly the greatest sporting tournament in the world, when it come to the football field, myself and I would hazard a guess, that the rest of the Football-fanatical-world forget there differences and watch the football for what it is....
...as Pele put it, The Beautiful Game.
When you were watching the Italy vs USA match did you notice the number of flags around the ground that had nothing to do with either country,, but were put there by fans who had spent (in some cases) upto £1500 for tickets simply to go and watch a world cup match... regardless of who was playing ! now I am sure in some cases there are the idiots who want to make a political issue out of the whole affair, but just watch some of the fans in all the pre-match hype, they are there for the football, nothing else. In fact I think you'll find a lot of fans (other than the Italians of course) hoped that the USA would cause an upset and win that game...
Just gave your shoulder a bit of a brush their Aldan, there's a little chip needs removing

Help us Italy, you're our only hope. Help us Italy, you're our only hope.
I missed too many games in the beginning (stupid stupid stupid) have been enjoying the three I have seen. I was really into the Argentina v. Mexico game. I was hoping for a Mexico win but it was still a fun one to watch. Now the Americas are out (South, Central, North) and it's all YURP. GO Italy! Hooray for REAL Football.
