Any Equestrians out there?
I've been taking riding lessons from time to time for about a year....I used to take Aikido, but for some reason, horses are much more fun....in my opinion and experience....Do you guys ride or own your own?

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.

I have been riding since I was a baby. No, seriously. The first picture of me on a horse is me at 6 months, held by my mom. Since then I've ridden, trained, and done a bit of showing. The last year or so, do to the requirements of work, school and writing, and needing to recover from some debillitating injuries, I haven't ridden much, but I will get back into it as soon as I can have two of my horses shipped to NC.
Do you ride Western or English?

That is hilarious!I suppose i ride English, but i have developed a style of my own called "As long as i do not fall off."

Mornara, I take lessons, and so far I have only sat on the western saddle maybe twice....I took Hunter/Jumper lessons for a month, and just started up with English. But really, I'm not training to show or anything, I just want to be able to find that ease while on the animal. I absolutely LOVE to canter! And galloping, though I've only done it one time, full speed down a trail, was the most exhilarating elating most dangerous thing I've ever done!:smt017 I loved it!:smt005
May I ask, what kind/color are your two horses? Do you have them boarded somewhere? I bet that is expensive! Can you post pictures?
Well, I hope you are able to be reunited with them, as well as have a speedy recovery from your inguries.

I actually have 6 horses currently, down from the 10 I had about two years ago. Unfortunately, I originally rode western, so I had a bunch of Quarter Horses. Two of the mares, REALLY good stock at that, were poisoned by a neighbor during one of the eternal disputes my grandmother gets into.
Anyways, the two I am bringing to NC are both bay geldings. One is a retired harness racer, a big rangy sweethearted prankster. He's an awesome horse, wonderful jumper, but he has bad knees. So we are looking at having him used as a therapy horse at a camp for chronically ill children, and getting my mom a new horse.
The other is my own, heart, soul and body. I got him when he was 4 months old, a hellion of a stud colt. Couldn't catch, lead, touch or look at the beast. I trained him completely, reining, saddling, and everything else he needed, and now need to finish him. He's half Arab, half Morgan, a smart assed, beautiful little guy that can jump anything.
I'll post pics if I can, don't have many of the boys. I'll get some once we move them though!
