Is IT the Bugatti 100P?

Oui!

https://www.facebook.com/TheBugatti100pProject

Designed in the late 30's, and moth-balled due to WWII, the "Blue Dream" was finally reproduced (since the original airframe is housed in a museum) and flew on August 19, 2015.

Talk about a "target rich environment"!

Was IT a mistake in the realm of politics?

Did IT result in a scientific discovery?

IT was not a fashion mistake.

Technically, it was an American mistake in that it was made in America by an American, though that that does not mean the whole of America is guilty or that no Europeans, Asians, Arabs, Africans, Indians, or Martians weren't part of the mistake.

Yes: Happened in the last 100 years.
Sorta: American.
No: Happened in the last 5 years, political, scientific, Fashion.

Did IT occur in the last 50 years?
Did the mistake directly result in the death of more than 10 people?

Was IT related to a television show?
Was IT a time-line or other "internal consistency" mistake, noticeable only to afficionados AKA nerds?
