Is IT one of the "Power 9"?

Nope, IT is not the Platinum Angel. (It might seem rather overpowered because it literally says you can't lose, but that card is rather easy to deal with...)
IT is not part of the Power 9. (The P9 are nine overly strong cards from the initial set, released in 1994.)

I know it'll take some research and digging. but that's half the fun. I'll tell you exactly why each guess doesn't fit the profile to give you a bit of a fighting chance.
(Relax, at least you don't have to think about possible hobbyists designing and forgetting their own airplane for 60 odd years!)

IT was a mistake.

Pr0-T1p: It may have resulted in fictional deaths.
Pr0-T1p: IT was so imbalanced, IT brought down 'the meta' like 'a house of cards'.
Pr0-T1p: It's not so much related to RPG Gaming as it is to gaming.

Now, don't go blaming those obscure flying things on me, or I'll bring back more of those arcane medical syndromes that 5 people in the world have had.

Is IT the "Nalathini Dragon"?
Is IT a card with the word "Bane" in it?

oooohhh, a Nalathni Dragon. I really want to know why you think this cutie was so overpowered it broke the meta-game?

IT is not a Nalathni Dragon.
IT does not have the word bane in it.

IT was a mistake.

Pr0-T1p: When asked if the mistake happened in the last 5 years, I had to look up which month it was released in exactly.

Why? because I'm floundering here. I sank so low as to ask someone who used to play the game, and that was one that they suggested. I'll keep looking.

Ok, here's the trail of thought you should be taking:

Since this card was a mistake, and brought down the meta-game (i.e. trying to predict kind of deck your opponent is going to play etc), maybe some organisation tried to fix the mistake and or meta-game..............

Was the card in question characterized as an "aggro" card?
Was the card in question characterized as a "control" card?

Crashing onwards, having read Yet Another article:
Is the card in question: Necropotence?

IT is not an aggro card.
IT is most definitely a control card.
IT is not Necropotence or Skullclamp, though you are thinking in the right direction, especially with Skullclamp.

IT was a mistake.

Pr0-T1p: It may have resulted in fictional deaths.
Pr0-T1p: IT was so imbalanced, IT brought down 'the meta' like 'a house of cards'.

IT was a mistake.

IT is NOT:
P9
Platinum Angel
Nalathni Dragon
Necropotence
Skullclamp
Door to Nothingness

You know, I don't know much about bizarre, one-off airplanes either. How come you're punishing me like this?

Is IT "Umezama's Jitte"?
Is IT "Armageddon"?
