Christmas presents- wins? fails?

Postby Bmat » Mon Dec 27, 2010 10:11 am

Did any of the gifts you gave or received make a hit? Were there any fails?

I got my husband a sawzall. I'd deliberated for some time, and consulted male friends, about what I should get him- a chain saw or a reciprocating saw. The guys were all for the chain saw, but I decided on the smaller one. I think it made a hit.

For gifts received, my Kindle was a hit. :)

I played Santa, big time, this year. Four bicycles, a telescope, a camers, and a fleese "bunny" cap. The kids are glued to the bicycles, and when the sun goes down, they bring out the 'scope. The moon knocked their socks off, but now they will have to wait a week or two for it to be up in the evenings. The camera was a hit too, and I don't think Big Rodney has taken that fleese cap off since Christmas eve.

I got a new LG tracfone. I like it, except for all the hoops you have to jump through in order to upload a new wallpaper or ringtone. But that's because I haven't figured it out yet. :P

All in all, hit's all around. :)

Humm... most practical gift was an ankle support; sprained mine out walking about 5 years ago and it hasn't been right since, so most useful for me...

Most fun gift, a silver plated tankard and strange metal wine goblets, am enamoured of the tankard and have been drinking out of nothing else for the past few days now!

Still, looking forward to trying the apricot wine, this year's wine gift... last years was a failure, that was parsnip wine, yuk!

Gotta say the coolest gift I got this year was a one-off custom Steampunk Nerf Pistol, with built-in spotting light, 6 shot revolving cylinder, and a whole bunch of valves/tubes and other steampunk tropisms.

The niftiest gifts I gave out were a Huichol beaded red lizard carved in a fungal exuberance, and a Oaxacan painted pelican. My youngest daughter was thrilled with an 18 - 200mm wide-angle to zoom lens for her camera. It was a good Christmas all around. No grousing; but almost everyone but my wife and I were sick with a flu-like thing the next day. We haven't figured out who brought that one wrapped up to the get-together.

It was a banner year at my home. My little one got everything she asked for. I did get some Tim Holtz inks and stamps ( Time Holtz is a god). The best gift was season two of big bang theory. Best show ever!

Being out of work, it was a much scaled down Christmas, but I was able to get everyone something they wanted. Well, I got Dagny a gnome. Not quite sure she wanted that, but fingers got glued to the last one. So, you know, sometimes you've just got to get a new one.

Pfennig check!

If you've got one, I'll give you that dime you want.

Oh, I got a hat for Christmas. It's the greatest hat that has ever existed.

So, pim will hate it.

Most assuredly.
