Need Help With Something Bizarre

Postby Ariel » Sat Jul 26, 2014 8:25 am

On another forum I belong to, we are over 60 pages of discussing something rather bizarre. Do any of you remember the Berenstein Bear cartoons?

Most of us say Berenstein, but... some say it is and always has been Berenstain. Looking anywhere on the internet and it is stain, not stein.

I would love to know what you guys remember it as. HELP!

I've always heard it pronounced "Berenstein", (rhymes with "Frankenstein") but that doesn't mean it's spelled "Berenstein". I guess the only way to tell is to find out how the writers pronounced their name.

I remember them as "-stain" but also that it was widely mispronounced; it seemed to depend upon whether you were endlessly reading those books to your kids, or just had heard of them. Those of us In The Know ...

One against one. LOL I'm telling you there are over 60 pages of this being discussed. Most clearly remember stein. Looking all over the internet it is stain. Anyone else want to weigh in? I always remembered it spelled with stein. Weird!

I remember -stain because I remember that I noted the unusual (to me) pronunciation.

I've heard it pronounced both ways. Always used the "stain" pronunciation myself.

Another forum, eh?

I know the topic is old but there is another way to say it from Appalachia. We pronounce it as steen. It always confused me too

There are more. Remember Snow White and mirror, mirror on the wall? It's now 'magic' mirror and always has been. There are a lot more. It's called the Mandela affect where some clearly remember things a certain way and now they are different. Look it up. I always remembered mirror, mirror on the wall. not magic mirror.

In Star wars when you hear Luke, I am your Father, now it's something else. On that one, I'm not sure about.
