sadly I fear that any pet I had would fare like my plants do, any thing that can not care for itself sort of shrivels up and dies around me.

How about a cactus plant?? Oh I know, a dragon. Yes a dragon can certainly care for itself. :D
Just make sure you teach it to poo away from the house.

I can't have pets at my apartment :( This is the first time I have lived without a critter in the house since the early 90's.

And I seem completely unable to load a picture onto this forum. :P

In entertaining news...

My biggest horse is a bay New Zealand Standardbred. He used to go by the name 'Captain', when he retired from the race track. That changed when he killed a mountain lion that was trying to prey on the herd, and he's now known as 'Rambo'. He's the sort of horse who nibbles on very large chains on the off chance that they'll give in to his will. He hates every living thing except the very few people he adores, (he loves me, hates my grandmother), and will chase anything that moves.

We've been having a skunk problem lately. They're lured in by the apples and figs ripening in the orchard, and making their lairs around the yard. So, last night, I went out to feed after dark. I heard Rambo thundering up the pasture, but didn't think anything of it until a very large adult skunk came galloping under the gate, mere feet ahead of 1400 pounds of irritated, offended horse, and about 2 feet in front of my ATV. The skunk, heedless of the heart attack I was suffering, scuttled on up the road.

I have no bloody clue how Rambo and I both escaped being sprayed. He was very pleased with himself, but I think my heart is still doing double-time.

(Although, since we have mountain lions moving down into the hills in anticipation of winter, I'm glad to see that he's still mean and strong as ever.)

The only pet I have right now is a brass cat I picked up at a pawn shop a few months ago.

When using the full editor, there is a shortcut icon to insert a link to an image hosted elsewhere and a button to upload it to imageshack. Below the window there is an "upload attachment" tab next to the options, which you can use if you prefer.

That's a great skunk story.

Let's see if this works...

Meet Titan, the 110 pound Great Dane/Pit Bull who thinks he's a cat, and has his own tea mug. No, really.

That's one of my biggest fears, that if I should have to move I won't be able to have pets. :(

Mornara, you have a great dane? They're huge!

Boikat, your brass cat sounds lovely. :)

I got a small bow front aquarium and just filled it with a few tiger barbs, a couple of little orange fish, some other striped fish, a couple of those sucker fish and another bottom feeder. I put this rock with a fake green leafy plant coming up out of it in there. So enchanting.

So that makes one persian cat, one turtle, a beautiful blue fighting fish/betta and a bunch of small fish in another tank.

My betta is in a nice big bowl, not those tiny ones you always see them in. I put those round glass things at the bottom and a leafy plant. He's a happy camper and always makes a bubble nest for the wife he'll never get. LOL

My beloved persian cat died earlier this month. It was gut wrenching to have to say goodye and put her to sleep. She was my rescued deaf kitty, all white with beautiful blue eyes. We had many wonderful years together and she is no longer suffering and for that I am grateful. RIP sweet little girl, I will love you always.

This is especially difficult for me as she just may be my very last cat. My life is too much up in the air right now.
